Shud i place it on top of a table which is very secure but is very cramped or shud i place it on top of my tv where there is a lot of room but has a 4 foot fall?

Any place, where it has 10 cm gap around it for a proper air flow.

I wouldn't place the PS3 on top of the T.V., someone could bump into the T.V. and it could send the PS3 crashing to the floor.
Just place the PS3 on the table. Also, the PS3 needs to have air on all sides of the console (especially in the back and the right side of the PS3) so if it is too cramped on the table then make more room for the PS3 on the table.

on a table and make sure u have lots of room for it so air can flow through and make sure u dont bump into it ok

On top of the TV! You don't have to bend over and you also don't have to point the wireless controller downward to make it work. Nobody is gonna bump it or make it fall and if you do, your an idiot.
