It's not bad for you in the beginning stages of pregnancy but when you get near the end, that much salt can cause you to retain water and have problems with delivery. The chicken soup is good when you have an upset stomach. It won't hurt the baby until you near delivery. Your doctor should keep on top of the amount of salt you take in during your pregnancy. Be sure and get a diet plan from your doctor the next time you go in.

Like someone pointed out, the sodium contents in canned soup is astronomical! With that being said, yes...plain chicken broth w/rice did settle my stomach too in early pregnancy. But I made mine homemade in huge batches so I could control the salt intake. Read the soup labels very carefully to avoid too much sodium.

What on earth would make you think that would be bad for your baby? You can eat anything you like. If it doesn't poison you, it won't hurt your baby. However, during pregnancy, women do experience certain smells or foods tend to make them nauseous. A friend who drank coffee like a fiend before her pregnancy, found the smell of it would send her running for the toilet. My wife couldn't stand the smell of beef cooking for a meal.
Go ahead and eat what you want, as long as you can hold it down. As you progress through your pregnancy, aromas and flavors are not as likely to set you off.

Yes, it's excellent for both you and the baby. Especially if it's homemade.

Congratulations on your coming event!
