XP is a tanker pretending to be a luxury yacht. Vista is Titanic pretending to be an aircraft carrier.

Yes Vista does look nice but that's when it works properly. Apart from that it is slow, annoying and is always busy making the Hard disk work constantly even when doing nothing and waring it out to premature failure. XP is older but very well supported now and usually runs a lot smoother than Vista, the problem is Microsoft will be ending support for XP in the next year so you won't be able to get any security updates for it which is a shame as it's a pretty well sorted Operating system now. Much better to wait for Windows 7 as it has the looks of Vista (even better actually) but without all the shortfalls of Vista, and actually runs faster and slicker than XP and Vista, so you can have your cake and eat it. You just have to wait a little longer as Windows 7 will be shipping with every thing soon and not a moment too soon if you ask me.

Hi there.
Besides the much awaited new interfaces, some claimed that the security issues have been fixed. There are 6 versions for Vista but only 2 version for XP.

Vista is the newer version. XP is more familiar and Vista is more complicated and different, but will eventually be what everyone is using. Vista is also much bigger and may cause your computer to bog down ... depending on your memory. I have Vista with 2 GB memory and it works great.

Vista is slow. It is way to encumbered in useless background programs.
It was released before it was ready, and is not yet fully compatible with even a small percentage of the hardware and software that you might be using.
If you are running any older hardware at all, you will have to junk it, because Vista will not run it.

There are A LOT of differences. I think the login screen looks cooler than xp. And you can scroll through the windows with the Windows button and tab.

I just started using vista a few days ago and its basically the same just a few differences. I haven't figured them all out yet, still playing around. But its fun learning and seems very easy to do.. Good luck.
