I am paraphrasing, since I can't remember the entire quote: "Christianity seems like a bunch of well meaning rules that don't really work in real life."

Do you think that is true? If you had an experience with this, how did you overcome feeling this way?

No, I don't think it's true, dear one. Christ meets us on our level, with no demands of any kind and no rules. All we have to do is accept His sacrifice for our sins and we're His. There aren't any rules or regulations. We aren't required to wear special clothing or behave special ways. God gives us FAITH and with it, we learn to grow in our relationship with Him.

God bless!

At some point I may have thought that and I think there are many who still practice Christianity in that way. I overcame feeling that way by doing my own research and realizing that Christianity, instead of a list of rules, should be way of relating to God that impacts how you relate to others for the better. If it doesn't do this I would question whether or not it's Christianity.

The "well-meaning rules" I've found often just came from "well-meaning people". They may have worked in their lives but you can't expect them to work in every life, every culture, every time.

Christianity may seem like a bunch of unrealistic rules to a nonchristian, and in fact, what makes a person a Christian really does go against the workings of this world.
In this world, we have to work to earn what we have. Those who don't work must do without. Those who work hard and make careful decisions tend to be the most successful financially and socially.
In Christianity, the important thing is to surrender your life to God through the grace given in Jesus Christ. We can't earn it. It is a gift for all, but only those who receive the gift can benefit from it.

oh my GOD, you people scare me. i swear.

yes i do think that christianity is a bunch of rules made by some tightwads.

christians try and shelter each other from the real world and life isn't like that. When it is in fact time to go in the real world, its not gonna be nice because youre a christian, it doesn;t discriminate against anyone.

and to you extreme people who say that youre christian life is easier than non christian peoples lifes, .....thats pretty sad that you have to put that little bit in. im not a christian, and i have a great, fun interesting, problem-free life. dont judge.

im just glad i dont have "Rules"(Bible) shoved down my throat all the time.

The rules protect us from suffering later. It's like a moment of pleasure can cause a lifetime of misery. God's Word prepares us to be careful what we sew because we will also reap. We reap what we sew.

Every rule works if it is applied right. Man works overtime to twist the rules.

The rules that Christians ought to follow in their walk of faith
are the guide-lines that God put-forth in the Word of God;

those are the guide posts, a Christian must follow, and yet not
forget to be obedient to the laws of their nation

Some of the rules are well-meaning, some are malicious, and some are plain ridiculous.

Whether those that are feasible in real life actually work depends on the person and the circumstances.

It never felt that way to me. Following the rules never saved anyone. It isn't about regulations and thou-shalt-nots... it's a choice, a choice to do the right thing even when it's hard. You choose to do what God says, or you choose to go your own way. It's up to us. End of story.

NO WAY!
How does it not work in real life to treat others as you want to be treated? What's wrong with the world is that people don't do that.

Christianity is presented in the bible specifically the New Testament. Biblical passages regarding Christian belief have book, chapter, verse.

Christianity is a belief. Quit treating it as a thesis.
