Strawberries are delicate. I wouldn't freeze them. The retain their shape a little when they thaw but they will definitely be mushier. It depends on when you need them and what you need them for. The best way to keep them fresh for a few days until you can get to them is to keep them in the crisper drawer in your fridge in the container they came in. Make sure there aren't any bad ones in the bunch. Take them out right away if that is the case. I've also made them last a little longer by rinsing them, letting them dry and then putting them in a new container in the fridge. If they are fairly firm to begin with they will last a while that way.

They are a type of fruit that will go off very fast whatever you do so they are best if eaten as soon as possible. One thing you should do is remove damaged or discoloured ones from the bunch straight away as those are the ones most likely to mould first and spread the mould to the others. Do not wash them as this will speed up mould growing on them. Remember the idea of fresh fruit is to eat it while it's fresh. Keeping strawberries fresh is extremely hard without adding preservatives which defeats the purpose and impairs the taste. Keep them away from moisture and heat and they should be good to eat upto 24 hours later.

well when you freeze them could make them soggy but not all the time i have done it with good results. just take your time and when you are ready to do this piece that is when you buy them cause they ruin only after day or so. you see the grocery stores have stuff they put on them to keep them fine for only a day and they they get soft. take care.

It will preserve the berries, but when you thaw them, they will end up mushy. I don't know of any way around that.
