it's a small company, business casual, more casual than business. I would wear a suite, at least a tie, but would it be kinda too much?

Go for it!

They say dress for the job you want not the job you have.

At the very least wear a tie. You'll get the reputation as a snappy dresser, which equals good work ethic is many cases.
Since you take the time to look nice you will take the time to do things right. It can only help you in the long run.

Just wear whatever you like and feel comfortable with! Who cares about the others? I guess the way you dress speaks good or bad about YOU, and I guess that's what you should care about... not the company. I recently attended a job interview at a family-owned company, so the environment was pretty relaxed (the HR girl who interviewed me was even wearing jeans and it was not Friday). However, there was this girl who was wearing a very nice jacket&skirt dark suit and I thought that, even though she didn't match with the rest of the people there, she looked pretty good and it was very nice that SHE worried about looking good regardless of the rest of the people. On the other hand, the girl that interviewed me really inspired no authority or respect whatsoever, as she was wearing no make up at all, a sweater & jeans. So it's just a matter of personal taste but I think people SHOULD dress nicely even if they work at a rather "casual" place.

Maybe you can wear a tie without a jacket, or light colored suits (i.e. not black, which is way too formal) with bright color ties or even shirts. That way you won't look way too elegant or formal and the contrast with your colleagues won't be as big. JMO.

If the attire is business casual, I wouldn't wear a suit. The company probably wants to project a casual image and feeling. A sports jacket with slacks might be appropriate without a tie though.

I read this somewhere: don't dress better than your boss! Or the boss's boss. Notice how they dress...and you can surely dress like them. But if they don't seem to wear suits, then ur wearing a suit might not be appropriate.

But if u really do feel like wearing something more formal, try a tie... or wear a casual jacket and leave it unbuttoned.....or wear a nice vest over your shirt. But before doing all this, see how your boss dresses.

I say yes go for it!- despite the environment being casual, you can help raise the standard - if you are comfortable in a suit and tie there is nothing wrong in pursuing that style. You may begin to influence others and the casual will become smarter...I'm always a fan of smarter.

If your supervisor is dressed in suit and tie, then go for it but don't overshadow him.
If you think nobody else wears suit, maybe you want to adjust to the environment.
I used to wear suits to a job that was more than casual and created a lot of resentment resulting in my resignation.
So, better safe than sorry.Keep the suit and tie for another job interview

The say you work the way you dress...

If you dress casually, you work casually. If yoyu dress up, you work to a higher standard. Who knows, you may impress some people, and the office image will change.

Unless you are the Boss, the owner of the business or the relative of the owner, I suggest you dress up like your other officemates. Your outfit must conform with office standard.

However, if it is in your personality to make a "fashion statement" in the office, I supposed it's alright. Who knows, you might be able to raise the standard of the way your officemates dress up at work. That's "fashion statement!!!!"

The boss will feel that you're trying to orchestrate a coup and overthrow him. Don't be threatening. Dress down.
