>> what do you think he would do to your credit readers and
>> atms?
I see a big difference between using an ATM (or other method of obtaining money) on the Sabbath and a personal check -- but one should still prepare that personal check beforehand. What does one think the Preparation Day was for? Does one think so little of God that returning to Him the tithes and offerings are nothing more than a last minute after-thought? Sad.
Robert S:
>> The money changers were scamming & cheating people.
>> It wasn't about doing legitimate temple business.
There is no such thing as legitimate temple "business" -- no "business" of any kind should be conducted in God's House. Coming to God's House is not supposed to be "business" as usual. (The transaction fee, alone, associated with using an ATM device makes it buying and selling on the Sabbath.) One should already be spiritually prepared to meet the LORD. If one hasn't got their personal check ready before going to God's House, then they are not spiritually ready to meet the LORD.
God bless.

I'm sorry, but I had to chime in on this one. ATMs in the church?!? I'd laugh, but it's too sad. Jesus ran the money changers out of the temple with a whip. I believe there are 2 churches these days. Mostly the false ones with the false messiah and those that are the true churches. They are becoming easier to see which is which with each passing day. The ones that ignore the word are the ones that are pushing a false religion. The ones that Jesus said depart from me for I never knew you. hehe I was raised fundie. I know the difference. Just when I thought I couldn't be shocked about anything, you pull one out of the old magic hat, Jamus.

I have not fogotten about this story and I don't believe in churches asking members for their banking information (I also know some who do). I think that tithing is something that is between that person and God. He will deal with people as he sees fit. He knows a person's heart and I think it is absurd for a church to have ATM machines or to ask that someone pay their tithes in this manner.

Someone has forgotten the story! It sure doesn't surprise me that they are putting these things in churches. It makes sure there is no reason to not have cash for the collection. They make sure they get their $'s no matter what. I do not have a problem tithing at all, but this is too much.

I dunno. As much as I like a small church and would personally balk at such a convinience, I cannot say that it is wrong with some churches keeping up with the times. Even something as basic as a projector to have songs up on the screen, very few have actual books anymore. If they were demanding or guilting a tithe at these consoles, well that would definitely be a different story. You keep misspelling Christians for some reason; its kinda ugly. Just my thoughts on all of this. Gods peace to you :-)

The tithe is the first 10% of income. A person cannot tithe on credit, because that is not the first 10% of income. Anyone that is, is fooling themselves.Even if people are, it is not their tithe.

In the temple, the MOTIVES WERE UNPURE, as the CHEATING moneychangers whom Jesus targeted was the culprits in the system of animal sacrifice, thereby making the process flawed and overly commercial.
In effect, Jesus was "cleaning house" as He removed the UNHOLY ACTIVITY going on within the HOLY TEMPLE of God.
ATM's in church lobbies should be nothing more than a "welcomed convenience" since the modern world has moved to plastic credit and debit cards rather than cash.
What possibly could make ATM's unpure and a cheat if they are for the sole purpose of accessing cash for the offerings?
They would still be under control through licensed banking institution.

How in the world do you come up with such questions as this? It would be wonderful if you would ask questions that are of a benefit to everyone.

Humor is much harder to execute in print than verbally: no facial expressions, body language, nuances of voice to help convey the message. It's hard to tell whether it's gentle kidding or hateful mockery sometimes, unless you know the person asking the question.

Paul, who preached like the Jews on Saturday, told his people to lay up their offerings on the first day of the week. We should already have our checks written before we are in church. Actually first thing out of the pay envelope.

If the churches could, they would extract the cash from your payroll check. in germany, 1% of the amount of your income tax is additional church tax, the state takes the cash directly out of your pay and hands it over to the churches, Hooray for the US constitution and the founding fathers who wanted an eternal wal of seperation of church and state.
