there are so many cliches: 'this too shall pass' ' no matter how bad it is it could always be worse' etc, etc, etc
they all sound great but when you are actually going through a hard time. It doesn't matter that the guy next to you is carrying ten tons- it doesn't make the 5 tons you are carrying feel any lighter.
What helps me is to remember my priorities, what is it that I am focusing on?
God's word says "Php 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. "
I don't know what your specific hardship is right now but I pray that the joy of the Lord would be your strength, that you would recognize God's hand, His blessings and His provision in your life even when things seem bleak, may you appreciate , though they may drive you nuts at times, the people in your life that love you - may you see the frustrations not as hinderances but as opportunities for strengthening and sharpening- in the mighty name of Jesus
Psa 34:1 I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
Psa 34:2 My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.
Psa 34:3 O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together.
Psa 34:4 I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.
Psa 34:5 They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.
Psa 34:6 This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.
Psa 34:7 The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.
Psa 34:8 O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.
Psa 34:9 O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.
Psa 34:10 The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing.
Psa 34:11 Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD.
Psa 34:12 What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good?
Psa 34:13 Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.
Psa 34:14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.
Psa 34:15 The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.
Psa 34:16 The face of the LORD is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.
Psa 34:17 The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.
Psa 34:18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
Psa 34:19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.
Psa 34:20 He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken.
Psa 34:21 Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate.
Psa 34:22 The LORD redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate.
God bless you!!

I like to listen to Christian music--English and Spanish although there are times that the tears do roll I find myself singing as if the words from the songs were my own; at times I just talk or pray if you will to God and remember His words to bring me some relief; I also turn to my family and smile with the idea that my God has given them to me so that I can deal better with certain situations; I am not saying that I do not trust God but there are certain actions that I see in my family where I know that God is moving. Say when I am having a difficult day and I feel sad I then see my boy and he makes me smile it is if God has send him to the room to remind me the He is there with me; my boy comes to the room and states 'why are you sad and he touches my face man I just see God's hand there. I do not turn to friends simply because at my age I think that the friends you had when one is younger then to grow up and well they have their own life to live so friends cannot always be there; but that is just me. Try placing you words or spirit in a favorite song and tell God that the words being sung are the words you feel---sometimes we lack the proper words to present to God; try it.

Knowing that God does everything for a reason and every cloud has a silver lining. I know that the only reason that God puts something negative in your life, even if you cant see it, is to keep you from something worse. for example, i was in a car accident about 2 min away from my house. i was ran off the road by another driver who wasn't paying attention and didn't stop to help. my car was banged up but still drivable and it seemed horrible. i found out later though that a young man by the name of cris, whom i had was friends with a few years ago and whom has been in and out of correctional facilitys for years now, was arrested for shooting at cars with a 9mm handgun exactly 2 min after my accident. if i hadn't been ran off the road i would have probably been shot

My faith in God and believing in Him is the number one factor.
Then having a cute child to enjoy, and a feline who always loves for me to cuddle.
And having things to enjoy and look forward to, even if it's just a second to look at God's beauty in the outdoors.
Then there's the phrase "This too shall pass".
And knowing that God made me a strong survivor. I came to realize this recently.

Trust in God-sounds lame to some but if I focus on Him then the other stuff goes to the back of my mind I throw my hands up and let God have the things I can't control and do something with the stuff I can control.

All three. And I'm Agnostic. Faith and belief are not synonymous.
And my NA sponsor helps as well.
