I tried giving her treats and hugs/petting when she is calm and not chasing the kitten, I also tried spraying her with water whenever she chased after the kitten. Both methods don't work and I've been doing it for two weeks. What other methods can I try to get my dog to stop chasing after the kitten?

Currently they are both kept in seperate rooms but we try to keep them in the same room for at least 4-5 hours each day. Doing that did help the kitten get used to the dog because the kitten is now not afraid of the dog anymore, just annoyed when the dog chases him. The kitten is smart enough to climb on tables or other unreachable places from the dog but I would really like to find a way to make the dog stop chasing the kitten.

I've heard of the letting the kitten hurt the dog thing. But I'm afraid of the kitten injuring the dog really heavily. Is there a way to try this method without the dog getting hurt too much? I'm especially afraid of the kitten scratching our dog's eyes.

I will probably get a thumbs down for this answer but....in obedience classes dogs that chase other animals are taught not to do this with a leash and a choke chain.
You will have a hold of the leash (at least a 10 ft leash) and when the dog takes off for the cat, hits the end of the leash (with you on hanging on to it), you give the leash a good solid yank (depending on the size of the dog of course!) and very FIRMLY and LOUDLY tell the dog NO! And yank her back to your side, immediately pet her for being at your side sooooo quickly and obediently and then you repeat the process if necessary.
Your dog will wonder how on earth she got back to your side so quickly and she will quickly learn that chasing the kitty gets a good solid reprimand.
This will not hurt your dog, although she may yelp, but the yelp is from the surprise of hitting the end of the leash.
And as other posters have said as kitty grows bigger kitty will let dog know when she has had enough or one day you will come home to dead kitty in pieces because dog wasn't taught not to harass the cat. I have seen this happen plenty of times. Even though dogs are a domesticated animal they still have plenty of hunting instinct to kill kitties that remind them of small rats.
So if she were my dog I would do a little bit of obedience training, it won't hurt her a bit and she will even be a better dog in the long run with a little training.

I have to agree with the first response, the kitten will let the dog know when she has had enough of the chasing game. Cats are very smart and she just might be playing with him so let them go. The dog will eventually lose interest when he can't catch the kitten.

to things cut the kittens nails or some petstores sell nail caps they are plastic and they are put on with crazyglue they last maybe a month or so and then the nails grow back out. either way teh dog shouldn't be unjured htat bad and I do hte nail cutting and it has worked for me until the now cat likes ot chase the dog around the house. tehy playlike this and I think they acytually play tag because one time the cat is chasing hte dog hten the dog is chasing the cat.

You have to tell him NO when he chases the cats, when he stops you reward him. And yes never ever hit
Make sure cats have high places to get to or can get away quickly.
Keep the puppy and cats separate with a gate
Keep your pup on a long leash so you can control matters if he takes up on the chase. Never leave the two alone unattended

you could hold the kitten up to the dogs face and let the kitten belt the dog with the claws. That slows down most dogs. It empowes the kitten. Then they will find a middle gorund on how they want to relate. May sound harsh but it will come to that at one point anyway.

sooner or later the kitten will become annoyed and will let the dog know that it has had enough, dog's learn quick from a cat because they never see the claws coming...been through it plenty of times since I was a kid . let nature take it's course.

get a rolled up newspaper (not a real thick one ) but thick enough, when you see your dog chase the kitten slap the newspaper on your hand and scream at the dog "no" bad dog .leave the kitty alone.
