Why do some people not believe in god. We wouldn't have an entire holiday for something that wasn't real. I mean, do they think a few people just made up the bible. Please tell me. I don't know why some people don't believe in god?

We are born into this world as a sinner, having a nature that is against God... When mankind through Adam disobeyed God... Satan then became mankind's earthly Father as we see here in scripture;
JOHN 8:44 -
YE ARE OF YOUR FATHER THE DEVIL, and the lusts of YOUR FATHER ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

Notice how the Lords prayer reads...
"Our Father who art in HEAVEN"... not "Our Father who art on EARTH"...

The devil (Satan) is the reason why mankind lives in conflict... Basically what we have here is Satan's children battling God's children... and there will never be any peace until God puts away the corrupted and unbelievers forever leaving the rest of us in true peace and harmony.

I do believe people made up the bible. You must be really young. The bible is not fact. There are many other beliefs. Just because there is a national holiday does not mean it is true just like because we went to war in Iraq means it was a good idea. The government is not all knowing. I mean Bush thought there were weapons of mass destruction in the middle east...which turned out to be entirely false. Christians believe in the bible...which could be false as well. Just keep that in mind. I think it is fine that you believe in god, just be open minded that other people have different beliefs and that there is a possibility that what you believe is not true, even if you feel 100% that it is true.

Which god are you talking about? I'm going to assume that you believe in either Allah or Yahweh, am I correct? Why don't you believe in Baal? Or Zeus? Or Thor? Many people are devout Hindus. Why are you not a Hindu? It wasn't all that long ago that the majority of people worshiped Thor and Zeus and Baal etc. Why do you not worship them, too? Many of these gods would have had holidays in their honor, also. Halloween is a holiday that stems from a belief in ghosts and ghouls - does this make them real?

Do you think that people made up Scientology? Or Mormonism? Of course they did, so what makes you think that the religious book you follow is the inerrant word of god? You reject all the others as false and believe only you and your religion are in possession of the truth. Yet the Mormons think they're right and you're wrong. The Scientologists think they're right and you're wrong. The Hindus think they're right and you're wrong. The Jews think they're right and you're wrong. Perhaps nobody is right and all religions are man-made...

Yes, we would have a holiday for something that isn't real. People love to celebrate and have some time off work, so they created a day to celebrate. If you look at the time of your Saviour's birth, it would not be around "Christmastime", it would be in the Spring.

Also, yes, many DO believe the Bible was made up by a few people as a means to control others. Sadly, it's worked.

Please stop forcing your beliefs onto others; people were not meant to be all the same. That is, frankly, boring, and would be going against the very nature of our species.

What about the Koran, or other religious literature? Do you think that a few people just made that up? Which one wasn't made up then?

Some people don't believe because of the every-growing poor logic like yours.

>> Why do some people not believe in god?
>> I mean, do they think a few people just made up the bible.

Actually, that is exactly what some people would have you to believe. The Bible says, thought, that such people say such things in an effort to excuse what they do. However, the Bible also says that the evidence of God is there -- such that they are without excuse.

So, to answer your question. Why do some people [refuse to] believe in God?

It is part of our human (sinful) nature to want to remain in control of our own lives. We don't like anyone else telling us what to do. To believe in God, one must first admit that there is a Higher Power to Whom we owe our very lives. That is too much to ask of a proud spirit -- but that does not excuse them from the Final Judgment. Only in Christ can we escape the Judgment; but, that is at the cost of dying to self, humbly asking forgiveness, and surrendering to our LORD.

God bless.

the bible actually was written 40 years after jesus's death, and not by the followers of jesus during his lifetime as some think. For example.... The book of David, was not actually written by david.
And the final draft of the bible was finally agreed on by the religious council 200 years after jesus's death. play a game of telephone over 5 minutes and the message is jumbled...40 years?!
I chose to be atheist because that is what i believe. if you believe differently that's cool with me. and my beliefs should be cool with you too.
Although my beliefs towards God are different than yours...
we all believe in the same message...peace, kindness, etc....
believe what you want but please don't frown upon my beliefs, because all the religions aren't so different if you think about it.

I think it's because so much of it does not make sense. The Bible is full of contradictions, wild stories, and was written to instill fear in people.

If people in Europe thought Columbus was going to fall off the edge of the Earth, then how can you believe a story written some 2000 years prior to Columbus that says the whole world flooded. 600 years ago, they didn't even know our continent existed, 2-3000 years ago, their "world" was much smaller. And that's just a logically start on a myth that was so fantastically written that it is mathematically and physically impossible!
One more thought dear, your question is really aimed at "Why don't people believe in MY God?".
Yours is not exclusive, only one of many.

Because it is human nature! When you refuse your flesh is when you are a Christian! No one likes to be told they are wrong, so they refuse a religion that says they are and that they have to give up everything that they are used to. And when you see this i people sweet just say AMEN! my lord has shown himself to me! You know Jesus GOd the Bible are the most loved, hated, talked about, thing in the world... Just be happy.... he says in the end times this will happen! So sweetheart don't worry about a never ending battle just dust off your sandles (In Jesus's words) and carry on making sure you yourself is on the right track! Good Luck!

We have a brain. And get this... there are alot of holidays that exist for no reason other than taking a day off work.

btw, sorry to burst your bubble, but jesus wasn't born in the winter so you're not actually celebrating his birthday. If you were, you'd be celebrating it in the spring.

Yes, I think a few people made up the bible. Its mythology.
