Does that mean God has a penis? Does it mean he has a belly button? That wouldnt exactly make sense because God was not born of a woman hence no need of a belly button, also he does not sexually reproduce so he shouldnt have a penis. But if he created man in his own image than that must mean God has a penis. But why would God need a penis? Why would God need a head even, or a mouth? Does he eat? Does he have a stomach? Does he have a butthole? I mean would he need to take a crap? Did adam and eve have a belly button? I mean they were created by God and like him they were not born so they couldnt have had a belly button (because a belly button is a result from the umbilical cord feeding you in the womb). How would you explain this?

most of these answers have either agreed with you or taken the view of this passage towards man. The passage is also descriptive of God. This is how you have viewed it so I doubt the answers have been satisfactory to you. God is male, our heavenly Father and many other terms that we find throughout the Bible. These are descriptives of His Character. God is a father-like being who possesses characteristics that we see as masculine. The imagery is intrinsic, characteristic, our physical bodies were made for the environment that we were to live in so it would be unwise to assume God's image is the same as our image.

Having the “image” or “likeness” of God means, in the simplest terms, that we were made to resemble God. Adam did not resemble God in the sense of God’s having flesh and blood. Scripture says that “God is a spirit” (John 4:24) and therefore exists without a body. However, Adam’s body did mirror the life of God, insofar as it was created in perfect health and was not subject to death.

The image of God refers to the immaterial part of man. It sets man apart from the animal world, fits him for the “dominion” God intended (Genesis 1:28), and enables him to commune with his Maker. It is a likeness mentally, morally, and socially.

You have missed it by a hundred miles the image of God. Not that it will make a difference. But the image of God is not a physical one. The image talked about is a moral image. Its also a spiritual image. It has nothing to do with skin, bones and blood.

The passage isn't talking about a physical image. It's talking about a spiritual image. As an example, God created us to be creative. That way we stand a better chance of coming to understand him.

GOD is Mind, meaning eternal and supreme conscientiousness. Man is mind with the capability to grow in conscience. When you are in tune with the higher power and seek true meaning..the mind is enlightened.

Okay, calm down lol

God didn't mean that we look like Him physically, He meant that His spirit is within us, THAT's how we look like Him. Not physically look, soul-wise look.
