Negative items fall off your credit report 7 years and 180 days from the deficiency. Nothing can re-age the item.

Bankruptcy, judgments, liens and other public record type items stay for 10 years.

Good credit info could stay forever, but it usually doesn't.

Information may be removed from your credit report at any time. However, the credit bureaus will tell you that the information HAS to stay there for seven to 10 years. The truth is that it doesn't have to stay there for seven minutes much less seven years.

The credit bureaus are allowed by the Constitution of the United States to collect information about you and sell it to anyone they want. They make about 4.5 Billion dollars per year doing this. However, the Fair Credit Reporting Act specifies how they operate and under what circumstances they can present your information. It is made very clear in the FCRA that information kept about you MUST be accurate, complete and timely. There are more than 300 laws in the FCRA that govern how information about you is reported. One of these laws gives them permission to report information on you for up to seven years, 10 years or 15 years (depending on the type of information) IF that information meets ALL the requirements in the FCRA. If any piece of information does not meet even ONE of the more than 300 requirements, it MUST NOT BE REPORTED. If it is reported they MUST REMOVE IT OR CORRECT IT.

So, the best answer to your question is: information can be on your report for one second before being removed. If you do not choose to remove it, it can remain there for seven, 10 or 15 years, depending on the type of information.
