basically to seek your own philosophy, your own set of beliefs. Im an atheist, and i see day after day the reaction on religious people , mostly christian, like i were their devil. This creation of discrimination in religion and how it brainwashes people to hate at the hearing of one word and judge right from wrong whether you believe or not is ridiculous. It saddens me that millions upon millions of people have been grown to discriminate silently, growing a parasite within them that bites the infidel at first site.
And if you arent into religion then you could read philosophy to find your "truth". Try the ones i did:
Thus Spoke Zarathustra by Friedrich Nietzsche
The Antichrist by Friedrich Nietzsche
The Atheist's Bible by Joan Konner
Those are 3 books that come to mind. You could read these authors:
Voltaire
Marquis de Sade
Sigmund Freud
Kahlil Gibran

I had a professor once who gave a really good answer to that. "The mind must be open until it closes on the truth."
For example in kindergarden we have open minds. The teacher comes in and tells us all kinds of things. We soak it up like a sponge.
By third or fourth grade, if the teacher comes in and says '4x4 is 18' we say 'hey, wait, our other teacher said it was 16.' Our minds are not completely closed. If our teacher can prove that 4x4 is in fact 18, we will accept that our other teacher was wrong, but our minds have grasped some facts and we want the facts we have to agree with any new facts we find.
It is the same with spiritual and philosophical truths. Keep your mind open. Listen to the teachers prove, but at the end of the day, know that 4x4 is still 16.

All humans have an innate need to know the truth. If you don't like your gray matter laundered, you have to ask the right questions, do your research and come up with your own answers. Be careful. If you overly rely on any one source, you stand to become biased.

Quite simple really. Truth = connecting with Divine Energy. How you do that is up to you, your own personal "truth."
