In a previous question, someone mentioned that abortion was not murder (or at least not as significant as an adult man) on the basis that many aborted babies have less cells then a flies eye (although I didn't see a source to back this up). Does that mean that if a newborn has less cells than I that thier life is less precious than mine?

At what cell count can you qualify to be a human being?

The comparison breaks down at a flies eye and a human life - isn't it scary and tragic?
Two seconds after conception it is a human life.

No, of course not. The assumption that abortion is allowed because the fetus or embryo is not a life is a wrong assumption. The law does not back up that thinking.

The law for abortion is based on a woman's right to privacy and nothing more. It does not address whether or not the fetus is a human being. So, people who always say that think they have a legal backing...they do not.

There is no proof that an embryo is not a life...no matter how many cells it has. Based on reason alone, we should draw the conclusion that it is a human being. Knowing that a pregnancy allowed to go to term will, in fact, produce a human baby, is enough evidence that what is in the womb of a pregnant woman is a human being.

2/3 of conceptuses (fertilised ova) are spontaneously shed in the first menses after intercourse.

we do not hold funerals for these shed ova, you cannot buy a casket for one, only the most devout of roman catholics baptise soiled sanpro.

so obviously nobody believes that they are 'babies'.

a conceptus becomes a baby sometime between fertilisation and three years old. different people will put the borderline for 'being a human' at different places along this spectrum.

some of the places are sensible, some are silly.

you prefer to choose a silly point. this is your right. but don't expect anybody to take you seriously.

Nooooo. It means that something that is a cluster of 80 cells, less than in the eye of a fly, isn't a "human being."

You really need to have this explained?

So do you take any sort of antibiotics or anti-viral medication? Because bacteria and viruses have less cells than you does that mean that their lives are less precious than yours?

I guess so. You see the person that idiotically answered that quesiton did not have a correct answer and to appease what the Bible calls godly sorrow (conviction), justified it with that excuse. But according to that reasoning....just like you said a new born babe's life is not that important...therefore justiying aboriton....SICK!
