There are some purebred Golden retriever peppies for sale, the parents are very calm, the puppies of course are very cute! they go home at eight weeks, with their shots, worming, and a small puppy package, ( food, leash, toys, collar, bowls ect.) they are raised with kids, cats, and their parents, they are all playfull, and healthy. the parents are not registered, they never got the papers for the male, and the female's dad wasn't registered. The prices are 400 for a male, and 450 for a female. What do you think? Of course the puppy would just be for a family dog/ pet. The people said if it didn't work out they would take the puppy back, and give the money back, if its an adult, they will take the dog back and rehome it, and give back the rehoming fee. So get the puppy or not?

I think it's too much for an unregistered dog, consider it only if the seller can produce PROOF (as in test results) that the parents are free of dysplasia and thyroid problems. I'd talk to their vet, as well...to try find out if the parents have issues with allergies or heart problems. Personally, I have two rescue Goldens, and I would NEVER pay a breeder for a GR that didn't come from solid, healthy parents. One of my dogs has heart disease, allergies, and hypothyroidism, the other has hip dysplasia. I don't regret getting my dogs, but when you're paying a breeder (and this one is not a good one), you have a right to expect a top quality dog. I would guess there's maybe a 25% chance that these puppies won't end up with at least one expensive health problem. (For my dogs--Rimadyl: $85/month, Enacard: $45/month, Thyroid Medication: $15/month+ add cost of regular vet exams-these two go to the vet MUCH more than once a year-then add the cost of the extra tests, special food for the one with allergies, etc. and just these two dogs cost me about $240 a month...one year of vet care for these two dogs could buy you TWO or possibly THREE excellent Goldens from a great breeder that would have much better health prospects).

If you're not willing to spend more for a well-bred Golden, why not consider contacting a Golden Retriever rescue about adopting? Retrieve a Golden of Minnesota (www.ragom.org) often has purebred Goldens of all ages (including puppies), and I'm sure other rescues can help you, as well. You may not get the health guarantee from a rescued dog, but you won't be supporting greedy, irresponsible breeding, either (which is what these people are doing by breeding unregistered dogs). I DON'T have a problem with breeding dogs, just with people who breed dogs only for money, without thought to the future health of what they are breeding and the astronomical costs to the owners of their dogs' offspring.

My family used to breed Golden Retriever puppies and we sold them for about that price, but it they were registered and we also got a certification saying that the puppies had no signs of hip displaysia which is a problem in golden retrievers. I'm not sure whether they would have looked into that or not. You might ask them about what if in a few years they end up with a problem like that. If you looked around a little more you might be able to find a registered golden for about the same price.

To me it sounds like a very good situation. To me the price sounds like a kind of a lot for a golden retriver especially one that is not registered. THe dogs sound like they are really good though. If you are in a situation where you can take care of the dog and give it love then I say go for it. When you purchase it make some kind of contract that says you can return it if you take it to the vet and they find a problem like within the first year. And that they will refund your money if it doesnot work out.

are you prepared for a puppy? lots of puppies are cute but you are looking at a commitment of many years. Puppies are not toys they take training and lots of time. Not counting the cost of raising and maintaining a healthy puppy or a dog. Its great the breeder wants to be responsible enough to take the puppy or adult back but again its not fair to them or the dog if you aren't really ready to make a commitment of many years to the dog.

If you have researched the breed, are ready for long commitment I wouldn't worry about registration papers, however Goldies do have other health problems including hip
and elbow dysplasia, cataracts and other eye problems. I would be asking about any history of these medical problems and what guarentees they make against them. Vet bills can add up fast if you run into these problems not counting the heart ache that goes with it.

If the parents are even tempered and free of any hereditary deseases such as displasia of the hip, GO FOR IT. You will be the one to train the puppy to be the Dog you want. As for the 400-450... ouch if its not registered with papers. That's what you'd pay for an AKC.

I'm sorry to say that, but I wouldn't pay $400 or $450 for a puppy,if there not registered and stuff, maybe u should ask them to lower the price.

In my opinion they are asking alittle much for an unregistered golden. All that stuff that they send with you and the shots and wormings might have only cost about 100 dollars. So they would be making a descent profit. IDK I could be wrong but I would call a vet and see what they would charge for that per puppy.

I would want a puppy from paretns that have had hip and elbows cleared....at the VERY least.
If this is not done AND they are not registered, they should be a LOT cheaper!!!!!
