Very well stated... And I agree with you 100%... My son has not gone/will not go to see the movie and I'm informing everyone I know what this movie is truly about... Apparently efforts like this are working... They spent $180 million to make the movie and so far have only made about $30million from it... Sure it opened at #1 but with the caliber of movies out right now that's no big feat... Keep protesting everyone... It's working!
Oh yeah, and Merry Christmas to all! lol

Well it wasn't a good movie. And I say this from a film maker standpoint and not a Christian standpoint. If it was three and a half hours of polar bears fighting, then I would have loved it. Those parts were sweet.
From a Christian standpoint I don't mind it because it seems to be going against the church and the people of the church and not so much religion in general.
The church as an institution has done nothing but harm to people and damage to religion, all while ignoring the morals it pretends to teach. The Church will destroy religion if people don't learn to personalize their faiths.
After all, the "dust" stuff in that movie is pretty supernatural in itself and the movie certainly doesn't deny the existence of a soul.

You know, what got me interested in Harry Potter originally was the massive Christian outcry against it.
Now I am an avid Hogwarts fan.
I can remember a few years back, when The Exorcist first came out, how folks were going miles out of their way to avoid driving past the theatre where it was showing. I guess they were afraid the demon would jump out of the film and possess them, or something. I read all the hype about it, but I had small kids at the time, so I didn't get to see until it came out on video. I was disappointed...the movie sucked.
I am even old enough to remember the Christian outcry against movies like Snow White and Sleeping Beauty. Ridiculous? Yes, absolutely.
Anyhow, I have seen the movie (my sister downloaded it), and it put me to sleep. I doubt anybody is going to get terribly excited about it and go buy the books...it is a downright BORING film.
Pullman is an idiot, obviously...especially if he thinks that a silly, boring film is going to turn a generation of Christian kids into militant little atheists.
My advice? Don't go see it. It isn't worth the price of admittance, anyhow.

Why the big deal? Christians have their movies (Narnia, Passion of the Christ, etc) and nobody gets into a fuss about boycotting or blocking those movies. It seems some people want the privilege of saying what they like whenever they want, while blocking the ability of anyone to disagree.
I'm going to see the movie multiple times, just to stick to the Catholic League.

God forbid you allow other people their freedom of speech. Do I whine and complain everytime a Christian movie comes out? Do I b*tch about how early Christians massacred pagans, about how they have no right to enforce their religious beliefs with film? No.
So in conclusion, stop b*tching about a movie just because you don't agree with its alleged underlying message. You people are the same ones who whine when anything opposed their religion, but turn around and try to destroy mine.

I'm taking my kids to see it. They couldn't stand Narnia, what a bunch of BS that was.
God not only deserves our defiance, he deserves to be shown for what he truly is, a fairytale with a constraining grip on our society.

geez, what is it with you christians trying to stop a good book from being read?
and so we can have books, movies, etc. that are pro-god, but none that are anti-god? sounds a bit hypocritical to me.
