They state that some of the folks they have caught and deported are caught up to 3 times trying to cross in the same day. now if someone is here working and has a life, then yes it's a big pain in the butt. What can I say. i woul d foolow the trail and snag the employer and make them pay the taxes the worker should have paid, then give them credit and put them at the end of the line. The employer would have a paper trail on cash paid and would give it up it threatened with a large fine. Happy Hoildays.

"Deportation is not punishment, it is just the removal of aliens who present a threat to the well being of our community. Thus, courts have held that the constitutional safeguards that apply in criminal prosecutions do not apply in deportation proceedings.

A non-United States citizen can be deported with little or no regard to the fact that he or she supports a U.S. citizen family, makes significant contributions to the community, and does not present a threat to the well being of anyone.

Furthermore, it has been held that an alien married to a United States citizen has no constitutional right to live in the United States with his or her family.

It is the policy of deporting people for minor criminal offenses, without regard to the important family rights at stake and the benefits the person provides to the community, that makes deportation look more like punishment than the mere removal of undesirable aliens who do not fit into our community."

Not really. Too many of them are back within days.

I believe we should make illegal immigration a felony, send them to the federal pen for 3 years and THEN deport them.

Somehow if this occurs I doubt they'll be so anxious to risk return.

Well, "punishing" the illegals by jailtime in the US's already crowded prisons would actually hurt us in a way as well.

I'd rather just deport them and get rid of their nuisance on our society than to "punish" them by letting them fill our jails, no matter how temporarily satisfying that might be.

I think their assets should be seized and put in a pool to pay for the deportations of the person and others that do not have any assets. The illegal criminal alien's assets were illegally received.

nope. It is a legal, rightful consequence for their actions. It is a punishment to law abiding citizens to be subject to all costs associated with this illegal activity. And I believe you are correct too, the pc crowd have cleverly included these folks in the immigrant category. According to the law, alien is the correct description and it is illegal for an alien to reside in the US without legal right/permission given. The Mexican govt is much more clear on this for Americans in the reverse situation and you would be damned lucky to be quickly deported vs joining their criminal institutions.

Get rid of them why do I want to pay my tax dollars to imprison a bunch of illegals I don't like supporting criminals in our prison system who are US born citizens.

It takes about $ 700 dol of our taxes to deport a single person, Mexicans and San Salvadorians just swim back or hire a coyote $ 500 dol a piece to bring them back into US.
Just yesterday I spoke with my Mexican friend and asked him if he will send some presents home to his mother, his response was -" lm going to Mexico to see my mom for 5 days, I have done It a lot and know how to do it without being caught". I was in shock. What's the point of deportation if they keep coming back? its a waste of money.

but what if sending them back means sending them to certain torture or death? I would consider that punishment yes- capital punishment at that. and what do you mean 'where they belong' North America is founded on 'illegal aliens' no one applied to the First Peoples for the appropriate papers did they? No one was asked to carry a passport to settle in the New World... so how do you justify saying you belong here and other people don't?
