Well, like already stated, a new antenna might help. One thing to think about is that HDTV ( or digital) signals operate a little differently than the (old) analog signals. With analog, you can tune in channels at the "fringe" of their signal and still see them . Snowy I'd be though. With digital, you either get it or not. In other words, once the digital signal get's below a specific threshold, it goes away.

With that all said. I know quite a few people local to me that get GREAT digital signals off air on their new TV's. Most have upgraded their antenna.

There is an HD antenna that is supposed to go for about $10 in Walmart. I know someone who got that because she didn't have Cable. She gets all the local TV stations. We tried her TV first with a plain old rabbit ears and got some of the stations. The trick to digital TVs is that the picture can go from worthless to great just like turning a switch on and off. Older analog TVs get better or worse when you re-point the antenna rather than completely ignoring a weak signal. If you have an indoor TV antenna. Try turning it carefully until you get what you are looking for.

I just looked at the answer above mine and it mentions an essential step to try after you put on whichever antenna you are using.

Bear in mind (at least this is what I've heard) that the concept of a special "HD" antenna is just a marketing gimmick. Any UHF antenna should be able to act as an HD antenna.

Some antennas are known to do a much better job than others.

The "Phillips Silver Sensor" is a great indoor antenna at $30. I bought one and have loaned it to 4 people at work to try out and 3 of them ran out to buy their own after trying it on their own TV's.

(I just found it on-line for $18)

Go to antennaweb.org and type in your address. It should show you where the HD stations are near your home. Sometimes you have to move the antenna a bit to get a better line-of-sight.

try hooking up the antenna and running through the add channels mode in the setup menu--look at manufacturers booklet to learn how to do this
