My dog does it too...in fact, All the dogs I've had did it. Maybe they think they are helping?

I don't really know, but my beagle (rip) did that, and he would lick the shower walls dry (disgusting). He was always worried that there was not going to be enough water in his bowl and drank so much that he could never be completely house broken (the vet said nothing was wrong, and he lived 14 yrs.). I've also noticed that almost all Rotties think they have to drink every bit of the water while they are getting a bath! Goof balls.

one of my dogs loved to do that too. and the one before her loved to 'sneak' into the bubble bath herself. when i was a teen, we had a big old tub on feet and i would constantly forget something when i had a bath drawn so i would leave for a second to get something and when i would come back, i would either find her IN the tub, or just hopping OUT of the tub.

Dogs do all sorts of unique things , yours must like soapy tasting water. Remember they eat poop too. So their level of sophistication is at times, not that great .

they do that because that is normal whenever he licks the bathwater out of the tun is because when you wash your dog and you are splashing water at him of her it makes them thirsty and when he licks people is to get attention and when it licks you in the bathtub that is because he probably wants to help or either thristy
