I tried Drysol, and it is not working for me. My hands sweat because of anxiety mostly, but it is a real problem because they are sweating most of the time. I do not want the operation. What else is there?

There is a current medical treatment for hyperhydrosis which involves saltwater and a very mild electrical current. If you want to try the home version (it worked for me with overactive underarm sweat glands) then try this.

Begin with a bowl of warm water (16ozs) and add 6 tablespoons of salt. Use a washcloth to absorb the solution, then wrap the cloth around a good "D" cell battery. Without wringing all the liquid from the cloth, hold it in each hand for 20-30 minutes (still wrapped around the battery). Do this daily for four days - you should notice a significant reduction in the problem by that time. You may want to repeat the treatment every few weeks if needed. I know of no really bad side-effects (maybe dry hands are possible).

I have a huge problem with sweaty palms too--sometimes I have to make my husband or kids carry around important papers because I don't want to sweat on them from one place to another!

I could go on and on about hyperhydrosis, which is a disorder you might have (especially since you were previously prescribed Drysol), but it would be easier for both of us if I just refer you to a couple websites:

http://www.sweaty-palms.com/hyperhydrosis.html
http://www.nosweatsurgery.com/hyperhyd.htm
http://www.medicalacupuncture.org/aama_marf/journal/vol16_2/case_1.html

They are mostly surgeon's websites, I know you said you didn't want surgery. Bo-tox injections (like they do for wrinkles) are one possible non-surgical solution. So is acupuncture--but because hyperhydrosis is not a common ailment for acupuncturists, make sure you research any you go see thoroughly.

For how long did you try Drysol? Maybe you just didn't try it for long enough?

Good luck!
