I had random spots of adult acne which is just one or two big painful zits at a time, and proactive didnt work after a full month. I really have never found a cure, although trying not to touch your face at all can help some.
Other than that, just wash it a few times a day with some kind of antibacterial

I use 10% benzoyle peroxide because my skin isn't sensitive. But if yours is than use the 5%. Next I use a drug called clidymicn. It is my best friend in the world. I put it on in the morning, and the next day my skin is like wow. really nice and clean. now the next drug i used is called retin A. NO ONE SHOULD USE THIS IF THEY have sensitive skin and dry skin. This will probably be your best bet because it will make the skin renew itself, by peeling. The blackheads will then surface and can be extracted by appling pressure. Keep in mind that these are prescription drugs and must be prescribe to you, and you only. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions.
Aloe Vera

put a dime size amount

put band aid on it.

Tooth Paste

Perhaps your best bet would be to go see a dermatologist and get their opinion. My room mate is like you with moderate acne. She tried proactive and it made it worse. The doctor would be able to tell you some good choices and perhaps prescribe something good for your skin type.

No oily foods! I fought zitsophrenia throughout my teen years and won!
No colas, no fried foods, no chocolate.
Drink lots of water, be sure to sweat a lot. the sweat cleans out your pores, taking the dirt with it.
Do what I tell you, you'll see the results within a week.
Now that I'm almost 40, I could use some of that face oil. Now my skins too dry!

Products with Retin-A or Retinol in them work great for clearing up acne. You can either get them at a drug store or for something stronger go to your doctor and have them write you a prescription for Retin-A lotion.
Here is a link to drugstore.com with acne kits as well.

One thing that is very helpful is to always wash your face before bedtime. I know it's a bother sometimes when you're really tired, but if you get the individual face cloths it makes it easier. I know this first hand. :-)

When i was young i discovered coast soap. It works like a gem, dries up everything, lol. If you cant afford the leading brand (proactive) then try coast soap. Good luck.

Wash your face regularly whenever you're exposed to sand and dust, and have good diet with less oily, apart from getting a prescribed medicines from your local doctor.
