Maybe you can consider this :-
what psychologist consider to be normal - "The unnatural reaction to an unnatural condition is considered by psychologist to be normal"

Do you think they are normal ?

Or the majority's aberrant behavior is considered normal and your normal behavior considered abnormal as you disturbed the status quo and are a discomfort and insult to their norm.

What say you all - sane or insane ?

Well i guess that is a matter of opinion. It really depends on your view of mental insanity and what you consider the term "wise" to mean. I do not find the mentally unstable to be particularly wise considering they, for the most part, cannot function in society. It would seem a bit of a stretch to term these individuals as wise or clever. They have become wards of the state who exist entirely within there own minds without a care or a whim for other people. The wise, in my mind, are the people who think clearly, effectively, with a distinct care for the world and people around them.
The mentally unstable or "insane" do not fit this criteria in my eyes. In many ways, the term insane is the antithesis of the mighty title of wise.

Then how come they can't take care of themselves?

Look as long as someone can take care of themselves(i.e provide for themselves & manage their hygiene) & as long as they don't hurt anybody nobody is carting them off to an institution! But if a person can't manage to interact with the rest of us in a peaceful & productive way... there is a problem...

If someone lives in a different reality, and reacts to that reality in an appropriate manner, then their actions are not insane. They are.
