Sounds normal. Passing a kidney stone is agonizing--I know a number of people who were in the same situation. It's awful. My greatest sympathies to your husband. The only thing positive I can say about it is that as soon as it has passed, the pain vanishes, POOF! No lingering, no recovery, just gone.

yes this is normal, and extremely painful , Ive had to have surgeries for multiple health issues and out of them all kidney stones are the most painful. try breaking up the pain med. and take smaller amounts at a time just more often. might help keep him from feeling as sick. and if he can get some food in his stomach about half an hour before he takes the pain med's that should help as well , once he stats passing the stones or stone it should start feeling better in a fairly short time . good luck!!!

It is very painful for men especially to pass a stone. If he can't pass it himself, they can try to loop it and get it out, or try sonics to get it to break up. An operation is usually a last resort. At least he is in the right place. Good luck.

If the pain med makes him sick, he can take it with Gravol. Call the pharmacy and ask if he can take Gravol with it, then do so. If he can get good pain control, waiting to pass the stone won't be so bad.
He needs to drink lots of fluid to keep the urine flowing.

Are you serious? The man that you love and planned to marry was in the hospital in terrible pain and all you could think about was your birthday party? I would have left you too! A marriage is a partnership in which you work together and help each other and love and support each other. You cant expect him to keep making you a necessity when all he is to you is an option. Good luck in the future.

I couldn't just sit around and do nothing like my doctors suggested.
They didn't want me to do anything or to take herbs or herbal remedies, but I had to try something - they just wanted me to do dialysis!
This program allowed me to take control of my health. I went from Stage 4 to Stage 3 kidney disease.
It was easy to do and my BUN, creatinine and anemia are all in better ranges.

seriously the best way to pass a kidney stone is with beer.... it makes you pee... which of course helps push the stone along the urinary tract... and the alcohol takes the edge off the pain

I don't know what you can do to make him comfortable besides just letting him lay down and stuff. My dad had one this summer and a friend of mine had one a couple of years ago. The intense pain is normal.
