I am a Christian and I have never met a Christian in my life that was afraid of atheism.
Certainly, we think atheists are mistaken, misguided and for some reason, usualy arogant, but their is nothing to be afraid of. Not in them personaly.
However, politically there is a reason to be concerned. There has been a strong movement in politics and the courts to minimize the influence of religions in general and Christianity specifically. The last 50 years has seen the US population go from 93% church attendance by the populace to approx. 45% today. Than is something to be concerned about but, not afraid.
Fear leads to ineffectiveness. Christians need to take up the challenge and reverse this dangerous trend.

Because we're winning.
If Christians were converting atheists everywhere then they would have no reason to be afraid but what is actually happening is that those who are raised religious are leaving their religion.
The end result if current trends continue is that the world will be majority atheist (and some countries probably already are).

Christianity thrives on converting people to their religion. Atheism is the speed bump.

There are several responses that a person could make to this question. The most obvious is that "Christians paid attention in history class." The truth is, however, that Christians do not fear atheists any more than atheists fear Christians. Pop psychology has suckered people into thinking that we oppose that which we fear. I don't like broccoli - but I'm not afraid of it.

Christians like any religious group believe that they are right and everybody else is wrong. If you ask them to prove their belief, they start quoting the Bible. That's not proof and it shows that they are not willing to except what is really known about who wrote the bible and when. Christianity was just copied from earlier beliefs.

"True" Christians shouldn't let Athiest's get to them.
But then again, most Christians don't even 100% follow Christianity in the first place.

I don't think they're all afraid, but I think that those that are, are threatened by the idea that someone might not believe in God. Because if so many people are able to not have faith, then maybe they could lose their faith too.

I really don't know. They are mostly tolerant of other religions even though they often consider them heresy. You could say because the bible tells them to stone atheists. But I really think it is because atheism makes them feel like they are stupid.

You mean religious Christian not the real born again believers I supposed.
Well they need one another to evolve - The Atheists need the religious Christians (religious of any religion for that matter) as much as the religious people needed them.
So don't flatter yourself and your kind - you are all in the same boat as them!
