No if you do pick your job (MOS) it is done when you are signing your contract with your recruiter. Otherwise you are going in on what is called an open contract where they pick your MOS for you during bootcamp and it is revealed to you just before graduation from bootcamp
If you want a paticular MOS make sure you get it in writting before you sign a contract with your recruiter. Also If you change anything about your enlistment such as you go to bootcamp earlier or later that is listed on your contract them your contracted MOS is forfited and you are considered open contract. This happened to me but it didnt matter becuase I wanted 0311 and that is what you usually get as an open contract

Each and every Marine is an 0311, a ground pounder so if things get real bad you can also pick up a rifle and file in. Also when you enlist and you are undecided yes you could very easily end up an 0311, or as many are call a high velocity projectile interceptor, and I think in today war an IED magnet. If you have the smarts an they have a need for the wrench turned then that is wear yo will go but if your score show you would be better in the admin field then that is wear you go. Now if they need more 03 and yo are unable to make up your mind then that is you next stop. So my advice is go over what is out there and make up your mind or they will. Not all 03 are uneducated some are very smart men. They want that in there life. I was a recruiter at one time, things have changed I know but once you are a Marine you will always be one not just any Joe on the street can say I was a US Marine. If someone accused you of being a Marine could they convict you?

If you enlist on an "open contract" then the job will be assigned after boot camp in total. The Marine Corps has very few enlistment programs where an exact job is guaranteed but the enlistments is for ac occupational field or related fields. Going in as under an aviation maintenance guarantee means you will be somewhere in those occupational fiends but does not say which specific job. You could be a mechanic on an F/A-18 or on a helicopter; after boot camp you will be given the specific school which will lead to the final job. Reason for this is the Marines are a small service and wants to retain some flexibility because if a field gets suddenly short or over might need to move you from an MV-22 mechanic to an F/A-18 mechanic. So the major area is what you are guaranteed but the specific job is after boot camp.

You can request an MOS before boot camp, however if you are not qualified or the Corps simply doesn't need people for that function, they will assign you to where you are needed most.

well it depends, if u sign a contract for a specific job then yes you will get the job.
theyll give u options to like what field you wanna work in. And then like theyll pick a job in one of the 5 fields u picked.Thats at the end of bootcamp.
Right after MCT you know what your job is defenite....SOI(Grunts)
