PUT ME TO REST
Time to let me go my friend,
Because my life no-one can mend,
Its better to let me go this way,
Than watch me suffer night and day.
I'm happy to go, my time has come,
My quality of life is no longer fun,
Ive been so ill, so its not a bad thing,
To let me go forever resting.
Stay with me till I drift away,
Fast asleep forever I pray,
To relieve me from suffering and pain,
What more can I ask from my best friend.
Don't be sad, I'll be free from pain,
Never to be ill ever again,
I know you'll miss me being there,
But all the memories you have to share.
Thankyou for being my best friend,
And all my needs that you did tend,
Try not to be sad, try not to cry,
Now's the time to say GOODBYE PUT ME TO REST
Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Are you sure a new dog is not an option?
I'm willing to bet that your local Golden Retriever rescue group will have some delightful senior Goldens available to the right home, and they are usually less expensive than the young ones. So you can have another Golden without the expense and hassle of a puppy.
If you don't want to adopt, you could offer to foster a senior. She would probably be with you permanently anyways, since few people want to adopt old dogs.
Talk with the rescue and see what your options are.

oh, how sad! Try to talk about how wonderful the dog was and let her cry and be sad about it. Crying is so healing. The pain will ease as time goes by....

well, this may sound weird, but how about a stuffed animal toy that looks like a Golden? She could hold it, and maybe it would help her get through her hard days.

That makes any1 with a heart want to cry. I am so sorry. Some chocolates and watching re-runs helped me. I am sorry. I just cannot say that enough.

tell her that her dog is always with her. my dog actually came to me in a dream, and it was so real. tell her that she loved her, and just be there for her.
I am so sorry for your loss.
