What do people think about whiskey sours? I don't see it ordered too often at bars. Is it considered a girlie drink, or is it something a man could order at a bar?

So many things wrong with this post... First, all liquor is made of ethanol, meaning anything you drink will give you the same reaction, providing the ABV% is the same. Whiskey will not make you less sick than any other 80 proof spirit will. You either drank more of the other types of booze and got sick or you didn't like the taste, which can unsettle your stomach. Also, hydration and food consumed play a big role in how much one can drink without getting sick. It has nothing to do with whiskey in particular, I assure you. Secondly, it's NOT "kind of impressive that I only drink whiskey". First off, no one cares but you. No one. Even more importantly, you do everything in your power to hide the whiskey's taste, so, in essence you could be drinking anything. "I always order a Whiskey Sour because it is the sweetest and most tolerable drink I can get with whiskey". Sorry, you're not a whiskey drinker. You're someone who likes kiddie drinks. If you want some big girl drinks with whiskey, try a Manhattan, Sazerac or Julep ( the latter two are fairly regional). Or try an Islay single malt Scotch served neat. Bourbon neat. Then maybe you can somehow brag that you're a whiskey drinker, since you feel the need to. EDIT: Busted, you know perfectly well we're not talking about a properly made Sour here., we're talking about so much ghetto sour mix you can't even taste the whiskey. Also, lots of younger women like whiskey. I should know- I'm one of them.

A MAN can order anything at a bar. And he should order whatever he wants and not give a $%*@# what people think. . . . But I'm a girl, and I drink Whiskey Sours. I also order shots of Tequilla, beer, or whatever else I feel like at the time. Don't worry about it!

No, it's not girlie. A whiskey sour on the rocks is a really good drink. I've ordered it many times.

If you want to confound a young bartender, just ask for an Old Fashioned. He'll ask, "An old fashioned what?" That's so lame.

It's a little girly because of the fruit flavor, but the whiskey helps to balance that out. And it's usually garnished with fruit. I order one every once in awhile, but between the sweetness from the whiskey and that from the mix, it can be too sweet for me.

Unless you're at a bar and you look down the row and every man is drinking a beer, you'll be okay.

I have heard lots of guys order a whiskey sour.

I had my first one at a buisness meeting at a bar (with all men) and several of the others ordered one so I decided to try one too.

It's definitely not a girlie drink, considering that it packs a bit of a punch. It is, however, an acquired taste. I hate whiskey sours.

Most girlie girls aren't huge fans of Whiskey, however, everyone is different and there are girls that I'm sure do order it. I think if you like a whiskey sour, who cares if it's girly or not....both men and woman like rum and coke...we are all humans anyway! Drink what you like...

It is definently not a girlie drink and is one of the few things beyond simply a beer that one could order in order to sound over the top masculine.
