We chose to worship Him. It’s that time when we allow our spirit to focus entirely on God and his goodness, our heart lifts up in praise to the
Almighty, and our soul is flooded with the feelings of the Lord’s presence. We are not thinking about ourselves or anyone around us. Our entire concentration is on the Lord.
Christians understand the need to read the Bible and to spend time in prayer, but many believers don’t understand the importance of worship.
We can worship the Lord while we’re singing, while we’re praying, or while we’re meditating on God. But too often we sing, pray, and meditate without spending time really worshipping the Lord.
God lacks nothing, let alone security. Then the question, "Who needs it?" becomes, "Who needs to be made alive? Who needs to be forgiven?"
You serve His enemy, and mock the only One who can save you! God loves you, but you do not love Him.
The challenge for all good men, not just the Christian community, is to come together around what unites us, rather than segregate ourselves based on what divides us!
You obviously don't believe in hell. Sadly, you will; and for a long, long time.

In the times, that God was on this Earth, in the physical flesh --- he wanted worshipping, because this was to enslave the human race to his needs.
Which is the case of certain ETs breaking their non-involvement, non-contamination, etc law.
The ET wanted power and control ---- and acting as a God, gave it to them. The humans at this time, would have worshipped them anyway.. such was their ignorance and lack of knowledge and wisdom.
That would be the basis of the story about God.
And when God went away - got killed or simply disappeared --- the legends were maintained by the priests, so that they now had the power and control, manipulation of mankind.
And now people simply believe in the myth, without questioning it...

Freedom of Choice
[33:72] We have offered the responsibility (freedom of choice) to the heavens and the earth, and the mountains, but they refused to bear it, and were afraid of it. But the human being accepted it; he was transgressing, ignorant.
[33:73] For GOD will inevitably punish the hypocrite men and the hypocrite women, and the idol worshipping men and the idol worshipping women. GOD redeems the believing men and the believing women. GOD is Forgiver, Most Merciful.

Unless there is a God, your ideas about living a good life are just some things that make you feel good about yourself (build your ego, etc).
Worship is the process of experiencing God. Worship is everything we do that brings us closer to God. It is, for example, helping our neighbor.

I believe that if you go down that path of doubting your relationship and responsibility to Him, the One who created you, then you will meet the same fate as Lucifer, because he questioned his praise & worship for the God that created him. Praise & worship is not a lot to ask of us, since He put forth the effort in the first place to redeem us of our fallen nature. And this effort, built on His unconditional love for us, is beyond anything we could comprehend. And besides, He created us to replace Lucifer's coveted position in Heaven, and live with Him eternally in His kingdom! That in itself makes me want to glorify and magnify Him more! Hallelujah Jesus!

God by definition is the best thing that exists. It is therefore true that his insistence on being the center of all things is actually quite loving of him. It would be arrogant if he weren't the best thing like you or me, but he is; and so his self revelation is exceedingly kind.
