Talk to them about how would you feel if I had a boyfriend. Then if the reaction is good tell them you like some one and they like you back ( dont mention his age until later). Wait a few days then ask them if you can go to a dance with him. GOOD LUCK!

Your parents have your best interests at heart here. What you should NOT do is beg and plead with them; but rather find out where the event is happening, how long it will run, whether there will be enough adult "monitors" on the scene. Also, it would be nice for your parents to meet the dude who wants to take you out.

From a parents point of view there is no right way for my daughter to approach me with this question. However, but the situation sounds like it could be manageable if your are just honest.

Hey I would do it slowly. maybe without giving away information ask them how they would feel about a bf. Ease into it. Tell them his positive attributes probably leave the not so great ones out if he has them. Maybe if they haven't they should get to meet him first and see if they like them. Also if you are in need of a dress. Make your mom feel like she is important and has a say in things and ask her to help and listen to what she has to say. Good Luck!

Just Tel them the truth.
They might let you go instead.....
Or if you really think it's a bad idea to tell them then just say you're going to school for an important event.
that's what i always do.

By showing them you are mature enough to be allowed to go. But if you've lied to them aobut the boy to begin with they may not cooperate.
