I am a pastor, and my wife always prepares coffee and cookies just before the service, so that when the service is over we stand around, drink coffee, and talk. Is there something wrong with that?
Our pianist often grabs a cup of coffee at the beginning of the service and puts it beside her on the piano.

I should think eating during service in the sanctuary a sign of disrespect by adults. Children would be exempt though. And likewise chewing gum or eating candy during service is disrespect unless associated with a medical necessity.

The Episcopal priest at the church I attend, makes the bread, both a regular and a gluten free as well as both alcoholic and non alcoholic wines for the sacraments. Communion is offered at every service, every day of the week.

Probably for some people, eating, drinking, and listening to music on earphones would be just the way in which to avoid any personal involvement with the purpose of church.

If unable to be free of distracting activity for even an hour, I would suggest not attending church at all.

Peace

My grandma used to feed us in church during the service when we were young, but she was a very old world, old school kind of person. I don't think it's encouraged now, but I know a lot of churches offer food after services are over.

Well, if you mean breaking the bread, yes, I think the Lord commanded that we do it in remembrance of Him and that we should but if you mean should we eat other food in church, no. Most churches have halls they get together in to do that.

No, I think we should show our utmost respect for God and for each other when we go to church -- and that means not eating or talking for 45 minutes or so.

I did when I was 16. And I probably would eat a subway sandwich before the priest on Sunday if I wasn't an Atheist.

I have bread and wine every Sunday.
There is a room in the building were we can eat but never in the sanctuary.
