If God cursed the black man which caused his skin to be black why then if he removed the curse is their skin still black?

I assure you y question is serious. But I am tryng to show how it doesn't make sense. By the way the African Americans are the sons and duaghters of the Africans who were alledgedly cursed. And if what you are saying is correct does that mean the Africans are still cursed?

Kayne I don'think they ever said he was wrong. What happened was the civil rights movement was starting to put presuure on and they got a timely revelation that God removed the curse. Still this doesn't account for why their skin is still black.

Oregon Flower I hear ya. Just a few days back I heard Wolf Blitzer say during the whole Jesus and Satan being brothers frumpus that he received a phone call from the Secretary of the Mormon church who said they don't believe that. Yet if you research this you will find every Mormon President has taught this and another point is I don' think the secretary holds the positon to make dcotrinal statements. That's reserved for the current prophet/president.

em3macey I don't blame you that is become you are a victim of a well oiled apologetics machine that has made every effort to confuse believers with double talk and doctrinal changes. Investigate your faith a little more and don't be deteered by those who try and stop you. Examine early writings of your leaders and don't accept the excuse that a person can't be objective if they aren't Mormon. If Mormon leaders are being less than honest you will never discover it if you are never permitted to examine your faith from sources other than Mormon ones.

All about I don't deny that some who professed Christianity dicrimnated against blacks and probably others. I don't deny it and I don't try and excuse it. If it is wrong it is wrong not just for those who profess Christianity but for professing Mormons as well.First point I don't recall the Mormon church offering any aoplogy for this. Secondly they didn't offer any explanation to the point I first asked. Why then is the black persons skin still black. Finally it is all too easy to accuse anyone who disagrees or challenges your beliefs as being anti-Mormon, hateful, biased, or hypocrits. Unfortunately this approach tends to lead to prmote isolationism.Us verse them mentality. That is a mental prison which never allows the seeker to look past his personal bars and see if "they" have anything of substance to offer.

LDS Tenn If you read what your own leaders have said about this in the pat you are told in no uncertain terms the mark was the black skin. Here is a quote from Mormon Doctrine from Bruce mckonkie "Those who were less valiant in pre-existance and who thereby had certain spiritual restrictions imposed on them during mortality are known to us as the negroes. Such spirits are sent to earth through the lineage of Cain, the mark put uponhim for his rebellion against God, and his murder of cain being a black skin...Noah;s son married Egyptus, a descendant of cain, thus preserving the lineage through the flood...the negro are not equal with other races where the reciept of spiritual blessings are concerned...Mormon doctrine527-28 orinal edition changed in the current edition. President John Taylor said they made it through the flood because it was necessayr for the devil to have a representive on the earth. Wodruff said the mark was blackness. It is important to read early church works.

It's quite typical of the LDS org. to change their doctrine each time the non-LDS public discovers something within it that is outrageous. The latest is the confirmed DNA studies that show the Book of Mormon to be a false document. As would be expected, the LDS hierarchy has ignored the truth and continued on, with their blinders firmly in place. For them to actually acknowledge the truth about them, their entire structure would collapse.

You're referring to Brigham Young's teachings that God cursed a man and that made the first black man and then after much public outcry the Mormon's changed story to "sure it happened like Brigham Young said, but at some point God removed the curse." Mormon's have lots of beliefs that would cause a public outcry but they purposely hide their outlandish beliefs by creating their own definitions of words to mislead people. If anyone doesn't believe this, then visit the Mormon's Visitor Center in Salt Lake City where they plainly show what they believe. Also, search Yahoo for "Curse on Negro Brigham Young."

It always suprises me that so many non-lds tell me what i believe. Actually that has nothing to do with why they could not have the preisthood. I have always been taught this time and time again. I was told that we don't know they were not allowed to have the priestood but God had a purpose behind it and we would all come to find out in the end.

I don't think any group has been perfect on race. I was just reading that the Southern Baptist Convention's position on slavery and racial superiority was not officially denounced until June 20, 1995 when a formal "Declaration of Repentance" was issued by the SBC.

Most churches have a past history of discrimination (Catholics discriminated against Jews and Muslims in the middle ages, southern Protestants discriminated against African Americans in the 18th and 19th centuries, some Muslims have discriminated against "infidels" in recent years, etc). Unfortunately, in the past (before I was born), Mormons taught some of the same things about blacks that Southern Protestants taught (Curse of Cain/Ham, etc) and so did not allow blacks to hold leadership positions in the church. Unlike Southern Protestants, however, Mormons never segragated their congregations and always taught that blacks could go to heaven.

However, all that changed decades ago. Modern Mormonism is very much opposed to discrimination of any kind. Ironically, many who discriminate against us (professional anti-Mormons) hypocritically accuse us of being discriminators!

The Mormon Church is not a racist church. I'm Mormon, and my wife is black. We were married in a Mormon temple, where the officiator told us that God approved of our marriage. My wife is treated well at church, as are the other African American members of our congregation. I've had a black bishop in several different Mormon congregations of which I've been a member.

Many anti-Mormons, however, intentionally misrepresent Mormon teachings in an attempt to discredit Mormonism. I've written about this type of discrimination on my site at http://www.allaboutmormons.com/brief_critique_anti-mormon_propaganda.php . Pay careful attention to the video at http://www.allaboutmormons.com/ENG_Video62.php .

Hope your question is serious. The error is in the fact that African-Americans have and had nothing to do with the curse put on a group of people who were disobeying God. If the LDS church shunned African-Americans for this scripture, they were greatly mistaken. I believe they have since realized this.

Ok...lets make this simple-

Cain murdered Able. To murder is a sin. God Cursed Cain for the Murder of Able. The Curse was that the earth would no longer yield up it fruits for Cain...remember Cain is a farmer, makes his living growing things. This means that Cain will no longer be able to till the ground. He is fated to be a vagabond.

Listen closely to this next part. Cain was scared that if anyone were to see him they would want to kill him because of what he did to Able. So, Cain begged God for help. God placed a MARK upon Cain to protect him. This MARK was dark skin. This was to make sure that everyone knew not to harm Cain, that Cain was under Gods protection.

So, lets summarize...the CURSE was that he was no longer going to get to do what he loved to do, till the ground...but instead be forced to be a vagabond and wander from place to place.

The MARK of Cain is dark skin. This is the sign of Gods protection of Cain from those who would seek to kill him.

Hope this clears things up for you.

EDIT: Why would the dark skin be taken away...it wasn't part of the curse? Remember the MARK and the CURSE are 2 entirely different things. Stop confusing the two.

I can't answer that one, yet, sorry.

We believe all that God has revealed... all that he now reveals... and all that he will reveal in future.

I'd have to put this question in the "future revelation" category.

♥ Peace be with you ♥
