Construction companies treating their employees like crap? Since there's 2 million people willing to do the same job for a fraction of the pay under the table? If you miss 2 days, with a doctor's note, in 8 months, BAM fired, poor attendance. When winter weather sets in, BAM full time folks laid off to cut costs while day labor soars. Have someone that gets hurt on the job, taps workers comp, BAM fired for a fabricated reason directly after to avoid future payouts. Someone busts butt and does everything they are asked and has one altercation w/ an equal level employee, not even a foreman, BAM let go . . . also i live in a right to work state. Everyone here says its because of the economy, but that here (arizona) is also directly tapped by illegals. . . . your thoughts?

Azdine, if you really think there isnt a way around that you are a fool. They already have someone else's social, it doesnt matter who's as long as its real. Now they will just be more aggressive w/ ID theft to make sure the person looks similar.

The outsourcing of most jobs than can be outsourced is complete, now they are using illegals to reduce wages for jobs that cannot be outsourced. In addition, corporations are importing cheaper workers to replace those in the science, medical & engineering fields. In spite of the fact that nearly 1/2 the Americans graduating with degrees in those fields cannot find a job in their field. We need to make corporations "attempt" to hire an American in a field, before granting them an H1B visa to import the cheap labor they seek.
Most states in the South have a right to work law that makes it easy to hire illegals in the construction industry... therefore many Unions support the hiring of illegals to increase their Union membership & dues. At this rate many families will soon be forced to put their children to work to support the family, as it already requires 2 wage earners in 90% of American families. Welcome to the NAFTA World & our new Corporate Republic.

Yes, it absolutely does have everything to do with it. The trend started in the early 90's.....go figure.
It turns out, it was the best thing that could happen for me. I quit working for others and started my own construction company. I cater to people who want only the best craftsmanship, and are willing to pay for it.
My work world is VERY different that of the track home construction world where it is all about quantity not quality, cheaper is better and corporate greed.
There used to be a time that a carpenter could afford to buy most of the homes that he built. That time....for most... is long gone....very sad.
I have not nor will I ever hire an illegal alien.
Union companies hire illegal aliens as well. The apprenticeship program has nothing at all to do with your immigration status....

Oh PLEASE!!! Another disgruntled American who needs to blame the illegal immigrant for all their woes! It's the easy answer isn't it?
Why don't you people take a look at outsourcing this countries jobs to other countries in the world? Because that's not easy...the companies are too huge...and who are you going to complain to anyway! I have to wonder why this sad commentary on our countries economy never hits the newspaper while despicable tales of immigrant families being ripped apart makes the front page.
You are absolutely wrong in what you stated as to Worker's Compensation. A person out on Compensation cannot be fired after the fact and will be paid. Talk about fabrication...that's the law and you can't bolster your case by citing that one! Day labor will always soar, in every state and it always has. This company you work (ed) for sounds like a real winner! Stop blaming everything on immigration and get involved in some of the illegal hiring and firing practices this company involves themselves in. Workers do have rights..use them!
The immigration problems today are the same as they were in every generation before us but the media has made it headline news. Many of those people are not illegal at all but are waiting years on end for their never-ending paperwork to be processed and re-processed while the little money they do make is quickly dumped into the government's coffers. How would you like to wait for 17 years in order to become a citizen here? If you have about 3 days free, I'll tell you the stories of just two families I know who have gone through this.

I think it's a sin. I heard a construction company executive on the radio in the DC area say that he would rather hire 6 or 8 unlicensed illegal electricians than 3 or 4 licensed electricians. He said he pays them $10 per hour and saves a ton of money (no benes, and a lot cheaper). But here is the creepy part, some licensed journeyman electrician is helping him, because somebody has to sign off on that work. So we reep what we sow I guess.

Construction, landscaping, housekeeping, you name it.Here in the Northeast,it has gotten to the point that the only people these industries will hire are illegals. The fact that they constantly undermine the American workers is a BIG problem. They are doing some serious damage to the job market.

I don't even know why this silly question was posted. If the poster is from Arizona (as am I), then you should already know that starting in January 2008, all employers have to check everyone's (not just hispanics) legal status in the Phoenix and greater Phoenix-metro area. Employer's who knowingly hire an illegal and who are found out doing so: they will loose their license to practice business in the State of Arizona.

I think everyone who hires illegals need to be jailed and fined.
I called a company to have a shop built and guess what, They sent out a truck load of I guess illegals, they couldn't speak English so I sent them on there way and called the company, they were not to happy because they did not get their cut.
I will never hire an illegal for anything or do business with a company if I know they hire illegals and will turn them in.
I am also a landlord, will not rent to them eather, you can check their ss number,go to E-verify for their ss # and check USlandlord.com for the other.
I am sick of illegals and will go out of my way to make their life hell.

What you dont desire to pay attention is that thay are harmfull to our human beings yet they are. They offered drugs in my community and now my son is hooked. i will say that that may not in basic terms their fault whether it is the place my son have been given his stash. if plenty tax money did no longer visit help them our city would have been able to pay for extra police officers to offer up the drug sales contained regionally park. if particularly some my examine did no longer visit taxes possibly i'd have the skill to in basic terms artwork 40 hours a week somewhat of 80-ninety and then i'd have extra time at abode with my infants to instruct them correct from incorrect. People need to understand their rights. Unionize or you will be taken advantage of. The only thing that matters to a business is the business (making money) people are a dime a dozen. For that reason alone illegals should immigrant legally.

That is one reason to support the unions. There are fewer jobs and more employees because the companies will not let the union in but you also have to watch the unions to. This is Catch-22!!!!
