Personally, I don't mind getting used gifts even if it does show. In fact, I might even prefer used things as long as they're selected with care. I'm all for recycling; we're running out of resources and if we do, no one is going to give us another planet -new or used. But other people do not like a gift that's even slightly used, so if it's visible at all, well I can't say what *her* reaction will be not knowing her... guess it's up to your brother to judge whether she will mind or not!

She doesn't have to know where it came from! I have purchased plenty of gifts of eBay because you can find such great deals and a lot of times, you can find items that are no longer carried in stores. As long as it's in good condition and it's something the person would appreciate, there's no harm in it!

I have done that before and they loved the gift. If it is in good condition I don't see a problem with it. If that is what the person really want and that the place you find it go for it. It don't matter where the gift came from in then end.

Okay..the point of gifts are to show love and care of the person you are giving it to. She wont know where it came from..why would you tell her in the first place? Your not supposed to tell where gifts come from! If it is in good condition I dont see a problem!
I bought two of my hubby's gifts off ebay...they're collectors pieces that go for 150 dollars or more and I got them for much cheaper and in great condition! He'll never know! I think its perfectly okay!

As long as the product is in good condition it will not matter. But to be on the safe side do not tell her were it had come from.

If "where it came from" is important to her over "who gave it and why", then he needs to look elsewhere -- not for a gift, but for a new, less-shallow girlfriend. =)

Would you have misgivings about giving someone an antique as a present? Well, then!

She won't know it's not new. Give it to her. Just don't tell her where it came from.
