Muslims living in Western European countries were protesting heaving against the cartoon controversy, agreed the cartoons might have been offensive. But, they expect the host country to understand their culture (reverence for the prophet), but they do not want to be sensitive to the host country's culture (freedom of press) . Isn't understanding and tolerance a 2 way street ?

Yes it is a 2 way street. Could YOU integrate in a Muslim country? Just wondering...

If press has a freedom, why can't they be free to protest?

There are a lot happen against people's will in both East and Western societies - in every area, people do raise their concerns and protest.

Why not Muslims? Why can't you tolerate this?

Plus, there is much more to a country's culture than Freedom of Press.

Everything has limit and Freedom should come with responsibility and respect. Otherwise, everybody would act like wild animals.

Many don't seem to integrate because they are of another culture. Now the Americans that converted to islam have really no such excuse. They just take things out of context from the Quran - the verse about not jews as friends - which isn't right at all.

Regarding tolerance and understanding being a 2 way street... it actually isn't. You can have tolerance and still lack understanding. I have tolerance for those people I don't understand... Because I was brought up in a family that taught morals above all else.

Muslims understand Western "culture". We have been mystified by it ever since we learned about. We still won't agree with it. But what will prevent us from going to the west? Not your culture. Your freedoms will not prevent us. Not even your intolerance. We are inseparable. We don't mind your social activities, we don't mind your alcoholic drinks, we don't mind your Friday night parties, we don't mind whatever you do in your country, we still like to come. We will not change your life for you. That is because you have the right, it is your country, your ways, your culture, your beliefs. The least of what we want is a speck of human respect for our religion. And please, do take the laws of your land upon us. It's only fair.

It takes a generation for immigrants to be fully integrated. Those that convert should be just fine and be able to be integrated. Maybe you don't think we are integrated because you don't see us out at bars and stuff...I don't know.

And who keeps bringing up the cartoons anyway????? Many Muslim across the globe think the protests went too far.

why is it that it's ok to protest the right of iranians to deny the holocaust and no right for muslims to protest a direct and deliberate insult to islam through the cartoons?
i wonder why trying to strip people of their identity and stop them from practicing their basic right to religion is considered a step into "integrating them in western society"
maybe they should just do what bush did in iraq to show those stubborn muslims who's boss.
i don't see the same attacks on buddhists , christians or jews among others, just the muslims.
there's an easier way to deal with it, STOP giving refuge to known terrosists who you train and help in your countries to return back as freedom fighters to their homeland and kill off more people. one of those who went to britain and was welcomed with open arms is seen as a pro iranian jihadist and a son of a known terrorist with links to iran, the west helped strengthen him and return him back to where he caused so much damage to fight for "human rights" against imprisoning his fellow iran and hezbollah training camps grads who have bravely killed off non shiites including policemen and civilians, as well as help establish an iranian network and a local hezbollah movement to continue what iran pays them to.
i wish the west stop showing tolerance to such criminals and spend more time tolerating those who just want to dress the way they like and pray the way they like .

Failure to understand their beliefs do not over-ride rule of law? That's my guess. A similar case of a father killing a daughter happened in Detroit in the 1980s. Disobedience, you see. He was shocked and outraged that he was arrested and charged.
