Haha, we had a whole litter of kittens that at about 2 months were trying to nurse on our male cat. He would just stretch out and let them. He ended up with stains on his white belly fur, was hilarious. This is no different than a child who won't give up a soother, or the bottle, or thumb sucking.

Because she is a 5 month old kitten and your male cat probably has some feel-able teets. I would suspect the kitten is not getting any milk therefore it may turn into a uselass habit. Does the male cat let her do it to him? He probably doesnt mind.

Instinct is pretty strong. Are you sure she's not just asking for grooming?

You're missing a word in there--is she nursing him or nursing ON him? If it's 'on' him, she was taken from her mother before she was ready to stop nursing. If she's laying in front of him wanting attention, that's mostly a grooming thing since she's not likely old enough to already have had a litter.

Its probably a security thing. The kitten probably misses its mom and now has bonded with the male. The kitten will probably grow out of it. Spend a lot of time with the kitten it seems really lonely.

She's just reverting back to her old comforts. My younger cat has been trying to nurse on my 12 year old male cat for 3 years now...and he continues to let her. I think it's comforting to both of them. He just stretches out and purrs as much as she does. I think it's cute. Nothing to worry about.

Cats enjoy nursing, it reminds them of the pleasurable time with their mother. That's why they make "happy paws" when you are patting them. I have known cats, regardless of sex, to nurse on each other their whole lives. Don't worry about it.

She's still a baby. Nursing is as much about comfort as it is about nourishment.

Or do you mean she tries to get him to nurse from her. Hmmmm. Time to get kitty spayed???
