I did my mom's kitchen in apples, but I used red, green and yellow. The yellow softens the look.

I think you will like this country cottage kinda look. Here is a link so you can get some ideas; http://www.countryporch.com/kitchen-decorating-themes/apple-kitchen-decor.asp

Apple scented candles are a great accessory. Dishes that are solid red or green would be great, too. A picture/painting of an apple tree or a bowl of apples hung in a prominent spot would set the theme and be the perfect accent. Add plaid curtains and a basket/bowl of apples on the counter to complete the look (without having all the matchy-matchy apple stuff - that you will grow tired of and want to replace.)

Wish we could see a picture when you are finished. I imagine you will have a comfortable room to enjoy! :)

yes, I have. An house that I rented when I was 21 was decorated in that way (the landlord left some things, border, and knobs and stuff and we bought some as well- clearly the green apple stuff is a little harder to find. I have a coke cart in these colors.
I still use some of the solid red items in my kitchen now. I would love one of those black and white checkered tile floors with the red accents that I have but I do not own my own home yet so that will have to wait.

Here's an idea for you then, although it's small. We were renting a house that had ALL WHITE cabinets (boring) -- went to Home Depot and found knobs that had red apples with green leaves on them -- and it added some color. I agree with you. I cross stitch too and have one that I made with apples framed in the kitchen. It DOES add a lot of color.

Here is an idea for you. Go to a site called glidden.com. On there you can select from any color on their chart and you can actually see what the room looks like painted.

No, but my mother's kitchen was red and white at one time. . . even the floor tiles. That's sounds cute. Good Luck!

Go for it! My girlfriends place is red and white checkers-- looks cute because it's a cottage. Red tables and chairs, white counter tops, red pans and stirring spoons, red and white curtains. Very original and I love it. Try your idea and if you don't like it, you can always change it. ♥
