In the US, most people speak English. However, our country has no official language and there are many dialects of English as well as the other popular languages spoken here (Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, German, etc.)
For example people in the North US and South US, who both speak English, may have accents that make it difficult to understand each other at first. Also, depending on where you live in the US, words for the same object can be very different (i.e. soda, drink, pop, coke).
Another note, the US has no OFFICIAL language so as long there is a group of people who speak the same language that can communicater, their language will survive. Therfore, it is very hard to put a number or even an estimate on the answer to your question.
