It's probably a cultural matter. Someone born in Europe or one of the Americas, of some Christian parents, educated in a Christian school, is thus very likely to know more about this particular set of beliefs, than any other. So it feels comfortable, "like Home". For example, I have a Filipino friend here in the USA, who was astonished to find out, after he left his home county, that not everyone in the world is Roman Catholic.
I wandered into Eastern religions via D.T. Suzuki and Alan Watts, and yoga, (not a religion), in a certain way, but since that came later in my life, it does not have the "grab" that the Xian teachings have.
But I continue to investigate, philosophically. Some times I believe, but at other times, I doubt. There is no way to either prove, nor disprove, these spiritual or religious ideas, and I am more of a Spinoza-type Pantheist, than anything else.
In the book "Confessions of a Savoy Vicar", Jean Jacques Rousseau told us to find our own beliefs, inwardly, but to practice the rituals of our parents and culture outwardly, for the sake of convenience and appearances.
That makes a lot of sense to me. But to others it might easily read as hypocrisy. I do not believe in Judgment, nor the primacy of Jesus Christ, nor Popes, because those are mere details. But I have a strong hunch that some God exists, however elusive it might be, to describe or verify.

My parents were Christians and I was raised in the Christian church. However, that alone does not make a person a Christian. Everyone reaches a point where they need to make that decision on their own. You can't control what people think. You will hear from plenty of people on this site who were raised in one church but rejected their parents religion when they became older.
One thing about various religions is that they cannot all be true. They are contradictory. Some believe in reincarnation. Some teach a person has one life. Some teach multiple gods. Christianity teaches one God.
I don't believe either that people create their own realities.
If one person believes the earth is a solid sphere, another believes it is flat and the other believes it is a cube, does not make the differing views true. Thus I don't believe peoples belief in a religion make that religion true.
Christianity is different in several ways. For one a person doesn't earn their way to heaven, unlike the believers of Hinduism and Budhism that believe you have to keep being better and better until you reach perfection and enter their nirvanah after multiple reincarnations.
Jesus was God himself come to earth. A person can have been a terrible sinner, but if they truly repent they will spend eternity in heaven with God (Father, Son Jesus, Holy Spirit).
The Bible teaches one to be kind to ones enemies. That is very hard to do but it just shows what kind of God the Christian God is. Jesus was God come to earth and he died a horrible painful death so that believers could spend eternity with God. There is so much wisdom, compassion and love taught in the Bible. All our laws really stem from the commandments. If everyone practiced what is taught in the Crhistian Bible it would be a perfect society.
I would suggest reading the Bible, especially Matthew, Mark, Luke and John to find out more.

I searched for God because I didn't want to go to hell. I searched in many places. Christianity seemed to fit together better than anything else, and it gave me more answers, and the more I studied it, the better it fit together. The Bible worked in precision with science even when the science didn't exist.
Example: Male child is circumcised on the eighth day. Why the eighth day? The Bible doesn't tell us. Science does. Blood does not have full capability to clot until the child is eight days old, and this wasn't known until about 50 years ago, Yet the command was 5000 years ago.
There is stuff like that throughout the Bible. The other religions only give you theories. The personal stuff, though, doesn't usually happen until one is well founded in his belief. For many it never happens because they never get well founded in their belief, but it's starting for me. The big breakthrough was in Nov 06 when I broke my arm. It was prayed for and healed the next day.
That's probably too much for you. Just start searching.

There are many gods, but only one God, the Creator.
The special quality of a relationship with God and Christ, which is essentially what Christianity means to be, can be to an extent explained; but it cannot be understood until it is experienced.
In the book called James appears the following:
James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.
Only through the discernment provided by God can one see the Bible for what it is. And only by walking in the Spirit can one understand fully the answer to your questions. Ask God and you will receive the answers.

You know how so many want proof, and are actively asking for it from Christians?
Well, the Christians have the proof, but don't often communicate it well. The proof that God gives us is the Holy Spirit. He has the proof, and He is giving the proof to those who trust Him. I have the proof, I can tell you about it, but it's not up to me to give it to you - God does that.
How the Bible works into it is that it tells of the truth. It tells of Jesus, even in the Old Testament where God is telling those who were living in those times about what He was going to do concerning salvation, the relationship between humans and Him, and what would happen in the future concerning these things.
So the Bible is taught by the Holy Spirit, without Him, we wouldn't understand it, let alone believe it.

Of all the various religions, I choose Christianity because it has proven to be true to me. There is nothing in the Bible that has come out to be untrue for me.
And I know that if God is perfect in love and in justice, I also know that I will go to hell when I die because I am a sinner. Fortunately, even though God will have to judge me guilty because of my sin, I have another who has already paid my fine. Jesus went to hell so I wouldn't have to. That is a perfect plan, in my opinion.
Anyway, that's why I'm a Christian.
Take care & God bless.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1
All of the other gods are just idols that can't walk, talk, see or hear.
The bible was written by God through man and inspired by the Holy Spirit.
God Bless You!

Probably because you were raised within that Religion. If you were raised in the Middle East you would be dogged determined that Islam was the only true religion.
