K, I watched about half of that drivel. Seems to me like it was a bunch of whiny guard and reservists upset because their country called them up to fight. If you make the most of your enlistment you will be ok on the outside. If you sit back and expect the Government to hand everything to you then you deserve everything you get.

I work with homeless veterans and yes there is homeless veterans; the great majority are that way because that is how they want to be. Something else is that any one can claim to be a homeless vet-one can in looking for help and was a less then 40 year old Vietnam vet-course it meant he served when he was about 10, many cannot show they are veterans then you research it, required for the VA programs, a large number will suddenly vanish, some had Other Then Honorable Discharges or they stay and it is a conspiracy because no record of there service exists. About 33% of the ones who stay and get checked are in those categories. The government breaking it's contract by not giving scholar ships is a strange thing because the military doe not give scholarships; they have programs that fund college but they are controlled by the Veterans Administration and I have heard of no problems with people using them any more then I have from any other grant or "scholarship"; you don't attend or make the requirements then it is not giving you money, you attend a non-accredited college or trade school-it isn't paying. Getting facts from youtube is farce as they are mainly home video or small producers looking to prove a point and not researching to find the facts. Most of the homeless veterans here are either older preGulf War and the younger ones have very few Iraq veterans in their group, most are from between the Gulf War and 9/11. Well over half have the job skills or education to do more but are content where they are and with what they have-odd as that sounds they like to have little or no responsibility and dislike the commitment and regulation of life in the working class. Many have drug and alcohol problems and some are trying to get past them-others are not.

Ah, I should have just went to the end and saw it was Veterans for Peace, now it all makes sense. Nobody, I mean nobody, forces you to join the Military. I personally am tired of these liberal pansy-*** do gooders who have nothing better than to find something they don't like and form some type of group and protest it. I think its time we all quit this political correctness BS and just try to enjoy life and quit worrying about what everyone else thinks or is doing and worry about your damn self and what you can to be a better person.
With that said, if I ask 100 people any 1 question eventually I will find the negative responce I am looking for, I put them on camera, and now I too can make a documentary. Lets make a documentary on the the other 99 and see that the military is at an all time high for reenlistment.
If you have a better idea how to run this Country or how to make things better, quit your current job, run for public office, and make a change.
Thank you and I will be here all night

A lot of that video was bull.
Sure, recruiters don't tell the entire truth, but some of those tales are completely false.
Example: People complaining about the end of the four year contract; all enlistment contracts are for eight years and any bootcamp with a brain can tell you that. I enlisted in 1987 and the contract was for eight years (four active, four inactive reserve).
Also, the GI Bill is not the only college program from the military. There are also additional college funds, which three friends of mine are currently using.
Countering lies with lies does not make the truth.

Well I looked at it and it's the typical left wing propaganda crap we saw during Vietnam.
Hey, sure recruiters don't tell you everything, hell, if they did then we would have to use the draft to have a military.
If it wasn't for those who did enlist and put themselves in harms way, regardless of what the recruiters say or do, then you would be facing the draft. So be thankful some are willing and have the balls to do what whiners, wannabes and slackers are afraid to do.
Look at the statistics, how many 18 to 26 year olds still live at home with mom and dad!
P.S. As far as the college thing, well if one has been wounded, then the VA pays full tuition for college or assists with the establishing of ones own business.
That GI bill has been a hoax for years anyways, you got to go after what they owe you, you can't sit at home and whine about not getting what's yours.

Recruiters don't lie some of these "soldiers" hear what they want to hear and then don't bother to look in depth before signing the paperwork.
It is sad but alot of those veterans didn't get the health care they deserved and fell through the cracks and ended up addicted to drugs and alchol to kill the pain. Things are starting to get better. More people are getting behind the troops to support them.
Proud to have served from 1996 to 2004 and going back into the reserves next week.

Well I can confirm my disappointments with the military being that I am a Dessert Storm Vet. however the big picture is joining any branch of the military is a selfless act. VOLUNTARY= Someone needs to protect/defend our country, there is something bigger than ones self. Don't get me wrong, I could complain about my experience with failure and mistreatment from the military all day as well as the things that my recruiter failed to mention but the truth is WAR is real, people do die, and the military has never made any promise of success after serving America.

They are whining about that here in Austin too, but the study has shown that those who are considered homeless and a veteran are not asking for a house, they are wanting a hand out.

While I don't think this video is going to be true in EVERY case when someone joins, I do believe it to be factual. If I were someone about to join and I saw this video, I might very well NOT join. Wow, that's heavy. That video had a big impact on me.
Just a note to the guy who posted before me: Get a grip on reality man! This video wasn't made by getting a couple of people together on a Saturday. This was documentary level with real veterans and people with their legs blown off. Shut your mouth and have some respect for ***$ sake.
