Sounds like you've got a sick puppy.
Take it to the vets.
I hope you got a health guarantee.
Thats why we DONT buy puppies from pet stores!

Probably health problems. That's not normal for any dog. You need to take it to the vet and tell them in detail what your dog is doing so they can try to help him. I hope you know about all the shots and everything they need when they are puppies. There's alot of responsibility that comes with dogs, and one of those is forking over the cash for the vet bill sometimes, because when something like this is happening, you should know its not normal, and if you don't, you need to educate yourself a little further. Nervousness is a tail between his legs or his head down and cowering, its not gasping for air.
Take him to the vet! Also, if you didn't know, they have insurance for dogs, you should check into it. Vet bills and trips can get expensive, insurance will cover it all, and I've seen some for only about $15 a month.
Good luck! Congrats on the puppy!

Pet stores are the WORST places to buy a dog.
See if there was any health guarantee on the pup and if they require the use of a certain vet. Bring the dog in and find out what the issue is. If it's something serious, bring the dog back and get a refund.
Dogs are not like shirts, they should not be purchased on a whim from a slimy place like a pet shop.

Thank your husband for the thought, but ask him to return the pup either way. Tell him that when youare ready for a puppy, you will find a responsible breeder http://www.geocities.com/bluegracepwd/wheretobuy.html together and pick out a dog that's healthy and fits your needs.

Well if you need easing of the mind call a vet, most the people on here aren't vets.. My baby (dog) used to breath really quick and i thought he was gasping, and i called the vet and they said its normal. However if you are that concerned call the vet, or take her in.

Sporadic breathing? Eats and drinks... Everything else is ok.. Hmmm.. You know what.. ALL dogs and puppies gasp for air and pant and whine and woof and jerk while they are sleeping.. It's called dreaming.

It sounds like snoring. Is it a shortfaced or snubnosed breed like a pug or boston?
