i was in an accident and my car hit the median, flipped twice in midair, landed on its wheels and me and the passenger were fine besides a scratch on his knee, we were wearing seatbelts. Is this predictable becuase we wore seat belts or are we just lucky..? the car was totaled, it was cuz we sliped on ice- swerved, which caused us to hit the median, flip over a couple times in midair...is it expected that me n the passesnger wouldnt realy be hurt? or is it shocking...

The best anyone can tell you is that the seatbelts probably contributed to the fact that you and the passenger survived intact. Injuries COULD have happened, but not as severe as those you would have incurred if you had not been belted.

Think about where, in or out of the car, you might have ended up after the vehicle came back down. The belts kept you snugged up against the padded car seat, bolted to the solid steel of the car.

You were very lucky.

A lot of this luck would have been due to:
- The central barrier stopping you hitting oncoming traffic (which would effectively double the relative speed of collision)
- The roll cage of the car stopping you being squashed as the roof caves in
- The seatbelt stopping you coming out of your seat

That's not something you want to try again.

I'd say you were lucky, if the car flipped. I'm curious, what make and model car were you in? That ice is so dangerous, just be careful in the future! We're all glad you're ok!

it's all physics I hit a wall going 50 and got pretty messed up even with the belts and airbags ......... there is really nothing to hit in mid-air I'm surprised no one got a concussion from hitting the roof ?
