i always feel like saying thank you makes it seem like you KNOW you're gorgeous. but i know it's annoying whenever people say "noo i'm not" and i don't want to say "aw, really?" because then it feels like i'm asking for them to say it again.
what's the appropriate response to this compliment?

Just say thank you and smile. Then compliment them on something back.

A simple "thank you" will suffice - it doesn't seem stuck up at all. And hey, if you don't already realize you're gorgeous, people telling you all the time will make that fact sink in your brain real quick! ;)
