If you met someone who was generally a nice person and you both got on well, and then you found out he or she was a Christian... would that make you mad or possibly hate/dislike them? Would you look at them differently?

No drinking and answering.

I don't hate anyone.

Do you stereotype all atheists?

Of course I wouldn't hate someone because of their religious beliefs! What I do get frustrated about though is the way that atheism/agnosticism does not seem to be accepted as a belief system.

For example when the recent film Golden Compass was altered from the book because Philip Pullman was 'anti-religion', some Christians I know were very upset because they said he was trying to 'destroy faith'....but surely the point of faith is that it can't be destroyed. As far as I know, atheists are not up in arms when Christians publish their literature and 'advertise' their religion (for example missionaries);they don't worry that their lack of faith will be shaken, so I don't understand why Christians would object to athiests/agnostics doing the same.

Most religious people are wonderful, kind and thoughtful human beings, and most are very accepting of people with other beliefs.....but there are a minority (as always) who give everyone else a bad name.

No way. I judge people on an individual basis. If they could accept that I don't share their beliefs and we had other grounds to be friends as in other shared interests it is no problem whatsoever. My grandmother is quite religious. I love and respect her very much. I have Christian friends and friends from other religions as well. The only time it is a problem is if they can't accept me as I am or try to convert me. On the other hand if they were to always go on about how evolution is of the devil or other nonsense like how big a sinner I am it might not work out for us to be friends. Cheers!=)

I do not hate Christians even if I hate some of their actions. I do however speak out against Christianity. That is something I will never stop doing. Christianity nearly had me committing suicide over my being gay. I've said that many times on here and I continue to get 'thumbs down' every time. This to me tells me that Christians either do not believe me, or they do not care that their religion very nearly caused me to end my life.

That only makes me speak out against it all the more.

No, I don't hate christians and I don't pity them either, I just would like some of them to stay out of my business and mind their own. I don't want people preaching at me when I meet them and they learn I am an Atheist, I am not trying to convert them at all, I don't want to have private issues like abortion and homosexual marriage being a subject of discussion in a political arena every time their is an election because of a certain groups religious ideals, I really think lowly of candidates that sink to such trivial subject to win votes and actually wasting time impeding on subjects that are civil in nature and a money wasting endeavor to fight against, that money could have done something that would actually make a difference such as housing and education.

You have been lied to. Atheists do not hate Christians or anyone else by default. Sure some people are a holes and I dislike them but it is never just because they are a theist.

I don't hate anybody. As far as the religious part of your question goes, I simply do not agree with the idea of religionists being able to promote a belief in something supernatural and having it be supported by government, without any empirical evidence to back up these supernatural claims.
So as long as these actions keep up, you can count on me, and others like me to keep poking holes in your faith.
Nothing personal.

Of course not. The vast majority of my family and freinds are christians. Why would I hate them? I don't care what other people believe. I expect the same kindness in return.

If someone WANTS a philosophical debate, then well.....

One of them does. She has refused offers of friendship from several of us who are Christians. She says we are all evil and that Christianity is a disease.
She has refused to "agree to disagree."
She won't even give a Christian a chance.
She loathes us.....just because we love God.
She is the only one I know of who is a hater, though, that I know of.

I have some great friends who are atheists.

Nope... As long as they respected me when I said "I am not interested." If they chose to bring up their belief we would have no problems..

I only have problems with religious people who are so intent on their own agenda they refuse to listen and instead preach on when confronted with "I am not interested." They are the ones shoving their religion down my throat, I believe I have every right to tell them off and open their ears... Unfortunately they are usually the ones who cry "Persecution" the loudest when you are finally able to get them to STFU... If they would just learn to communicate which requires listening as well as speaking rather than preaching there would be far fewer problems...

and Drink!!!!!

I wouldn't hate or dislike someone just because they were Christian, Muslim, Pagan or whatever else. Now, if they told me I was hellbound or inferior to them for not sharing their beliefs, that would make me dislike them.
