I do realize that some people who belive in "Hell" see it as separation from God, not *actually* punishment.
this is PRIMARILY for people who believe in a hell that is actaully punishment.
do you feel that YOU deserve eternal punishment? and if your answer is something to the effect of not deserving it, because of your belief in Jesus, then I mean if it were not for Jesus, would you? why?
I'm curious what crime people who believe they have comitted that is justly punished with an infinite punishment....

Brother, how is ANY one unforgiven sin worthy of eternal punishment? doesn't that seem a bit harsh?
I mean I can see saying that with outstanding sin one could not DESERVE hevan or eternal reward. but this is a different ball of wax from deserving eternal punishment.
Cristo, ... well if I comitted a crime which earned infinite punishment I'd sure know about it. ... seems odd that someone might not.
Enamel, so you are saying that God is proactively evil by deliberately setting the bar too high?
a child can distinguish between degrees of wrongdoing, yet your God cannot?
only an Evil Being would have infinite punishment as a default. justice would be that either EVERYONE who starts at the same place, gets the same result, or everyone starts at a neutral status and EARNS one or the other.
a curve is not a just "grading method", and justice when dealing with eternity is rather important! and you couldn't really have a pass/fail grade be a curve... it doesn't make sense.

U have to understand the concept of the Christian God.
Your God is both Good and evil. Our God is only Good.
What u define as a benevolant God, we define as cruel. It is only logical and so in that regard i veer with the atheists.
Speaking of Logic, the Mathematical Nature of this world is in paradox meaning there is an anti-state of Existence in Consciousness and as i see it this corresponds with the Christian belief about original sin, u cannot overcome something that u are innately borne of which is evident thru evolution. In fact, it is the paradox itself which would attest to the lack of Omnipotency of such a god.
Therefore the sin that we speak of is the innate tendency of wrongdoing which draws us away from the good nature that we desire.
Matt 12:33 Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit. - A fruit that has good parts of his meat and yet rotteness in some, is a bad fruit. A man that does good and still commits sins, is NOT a good man.
Both Jews and Christians aim for the good, but since paradox proves sin cannot be overcome, the test of Goodness is not to overcome sin, but to KNOW who God is -
Matt 12:31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the HOLY GHOST shall not be forgiven unto men. 32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the HOLY GHOST; it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.
The Holy Spirit of God is Love and it is the Nature of Love to deliver away from that which causes suffering - the sin to which we ourselves wish to draw away but yet are bound to repeat over and over. IF we so KNOW the Nature of Love.
It all hinges upon the Messiah - the Symbolic Act of the Love of God to deliver us. The Resurrection of Christ - that the Nature of Good, lives forever.
But for those who sin against the Holy Spirit of God, which is NOT to KNOW God, which is NOT to KNOW that He would deliver us, it is as logical as being akin to being rotten fruit.
Good works under the law are nothing more than boasts....it is the heart proves a person, and from it that we live and KNOW God. Matt. 7:21-23 - Lord I have done this and this......."depart from Me, I never KNEW you."
And the conclusion is that what is rotten must be thrown away. Interestingly, Paradox as this world is in right now, both Lives and dies. Hellfire is metaphorical of God's Wrath. Logically when the paradox is finally seperated, I would draw the conclusion that that which is Good and Pure Exists or has Life, as Jesus was raised from the dead, and that which is evil and rotten does not exist and dies, so those not under grace would ultimately go into non-existence, but i do know that God is Just and Righteous and again logically as the Old Law of God says, an eye for an eye.
EDIT:
also RW, from what u wrote in one of answers here "Comparing Spiritual and Spiritual" it seems you have completely ignored my addressing on the subject....Truth is found thru Logic - it is unbiased and pure.....I'd like to then ask u then if it is Truth u are interested in or in just attacking Christian dogmatic fallacy??

Yes, all humans deserve eternal punishment because of their sin. One unforgiven sin is worthy of eternal punishment. God's holiness cannot allow sin into His Heaven, His righteousness demands a payment for sin. It is only through God's grace that some do not suffer this fate.

I fully deserve hell. I have committed no crimes which would condemn me by human standards. Unfortunately, those are not the standards on which I will be judged. God grades on the curve, and just like the kid who always ruined the curve by scoring 100%, Jesus Christ set the standard at perfection. Therefore based on God's grading scale, I will fall woefully short, therefore I deserve Hell.

My point has been there is nothing we could do that merits eternal punishment. It serves no purpose to continue punishing eternally.
