My old friend, who is in the marines let me borrow his playstaion 3 in exchange for my playstaion 2 and a stockpile of games, and he said that he would return for it in about a month. He has not come yet and i wont mail it because it cost money that he does not want to give me. I have no problem with mailing it, but i will not pay for it as the agreement was for him to return for it. Now, i am recieing threats form his sargeant or commaniding officer. What steps can i take aganist this. I am not trying to steal his ps3. This is a matter of principle, and threats cross the line

No sergeant or commanding officer would ever get involved with something like this. Either you're being scammed or you're full of Sh*t.

None of the details you provided makes sense to where your Marine friend would rather have your PS2 than get his more advanced and expensive PS3 back from you. Do you think he's trying to keep all your games? It doesn't makes sense where you give no detail why he hasn't returned or can give you the money for shipping and why top ranked military personel are getting in between two grown men with video games and you want to turn this into a court case about threats????? Keep the PS3, since your old friend doesn't want it bad enough or maybe perhaps is too busy with military duties to worry about a video game system.

Exactly what kinds of threats are these people making? It sounds as though your friend is trying to bully into mailing the game to him. It's doubtful that any "commanding officer" in the Marine Corps is making threats on this persons behalf. That just isn't some thing that would be supported by a military officer. Has he mentioned when your game would be returned to you? Or how? It sounds like your being scammed.

Is the cost of mailing it to him worth more then the friendship you had with this "old friend"? Call him and tell him you don't have the money t pay for the shipping but offer to split the shipping cost. He might be in a situation where he can;t come and pick it up like he thought he could.

You're being had. I'm not even a CO of a squadron and I'm already working 50-60 hour weeks on things that actually matter. If someone came to me bugging about their PS3 you can guaruntee that I'd have them out of my office in about 30 seconds with a "you loaned it, you find a sensible ADULT way of getting it back."

No commanding officer or Sergeant Major is going to risk their career on something as ultimately trivial as that.

I would say go ahead and mail it back. And I take it you are a civilian. Well his Sergeant can't do anything to you. He is just trying to scare you. Besides! he still has your PS2, so tell him to honor the agreement or he can just take it to a civil court. Trust me, there is nothing the military can do to you. They are just being typical hard headed Marines and trying to intimidate you. Don't let them!

He is your friend, but you can't send it? If you don't have your PS2 back, you should still send the PS3 back. You can't hold things for ransom, but you should either send the PS3 back, or state that it would cost money and that the agreement was that your buddy would pick it up while he was back in town, and ask for money to send it back. Also state that you know Marines are paid, and that you can't just shell out money every time someone can't hold up to an agreement.

Foreget it!

You sound a little whacky.

To say an Army official would threaten a civilian over a playstation, is absurd.

What are you smokin? And can I come over and have some?

Do you think that it would be better to travel to retrieve it? In these matters, you will have to shell out the money to ship it to him. While you may perceive them as threats, they are really requests to honor the bargain. Being retired military, I can tell you getting time off for something so petty is hard to do. You're an adult ,step up and act like one, not a child.

You can always look into mailing COD.

As far as the threats go, a lot depends on their nature. Are you sure they're from his NCO or CO?
