My cat was a stray we took him in a few months ago, took him to the vet they said he was a little older than we originally thought but hes healthy and fine... now all of a sudden the other day he begged for food as usual but when we put it down he basically sniffed it and thats that. now today i tried feeding him something else and he drank the juice/gravy but for some reason couldnt get the solid food down so now im wondering if there would be any way of blending him up some food such as a milkshake/smoothie something.. what do you all think?

ok soo.. first off when i said hasnt REALLY eaten in 2 days i means he would pick at his food and not eat a full meal.. second my cat is extremely picky he will eat a certain type of cat food one day and demand a new one the next, i believe it has to do with his age, and thirdly when i said a milkshake/smoothie i meant made strictly from catfood and maybe water this way it goes down easier because i was afraid it was his teeth or jaw or something however.. he is now eating fine turns out he was just being finicky again thanks for all the answers stating i was cruel to my cat!!

Take him to the vet he's sick. Also your cat may be too old and that sign is that your cat is gonna pass away soon.

Give him some tuna or some lunch meat, something they normally would not be able to pass up. If he wont eat that he could be sick, and then take him to the vet. It might just be something small like a little cold, but if he wont eat it could get much worse. He might just not like the type of food you have, you might just have to keep trying different cat foods until he finds one he likes. If he stops drinking water, take him to the vet SOON, no water will make little kitty very very sick!

Don't let the cat be off food for too many days. Cat's are really sensitive and can get sick really fast. I recommend you call your vet and get him in soon. ps. I am a vet and this is what I would recommend

I think there is probably a problem and a trip to the vet is in order. cats cannot go very long without eating. If they do, they deveopl Fatty Liver Disease, which is often fatal.

Take him to the vet IMMEDIATELY, why have you waited 2 days? This isn't normal, and definetly don't give him a milkshake - that could seriously hurt him

Try with a WEAK chichen soup and hacked breast.
NO MILK! (in case of diarrhoea!!)
Do not feed him anymore with cat-food when is in this mood!
Isn't he pining for a cat?...
DID YOU SEE IF HE PEES?! (Renal, vesical problems!!!)
Two days is just alarming! Run to the vet!

You should go and talk to the vet because he might be sick. The vet might change his cat food and then the cat might eat it. Your cat might be having problems swallowing. who knows?

aftter 2 days of not eating, you NEED to take the cat to the vet.
cats dont refuse food unless they are sick.

it is against the law (animal neglect and abuse) to not give your pets the medical care they need.

is it the same food he always eats? if you buy a different brand or flavor or switch from wet food to dry sometimes they don't like it and can be quite stubborn about eating, even for that long. however, he could just not feel well??

I would take him to the vet for a check up. He might have a bad tooth.
