You are with-holding propery that doesn't belong to you. Be glad he hasn't contacted the police and had you arrested. What you are doing is illegal. Mail the man his PS3 back and be done with it. I'm sure once he has it in hand he will reimburse you the minimal shipping charges it will cost you to mail it.

You can't do anything because YOU are the one that is wrong!!

You are not receiving threats from his commanding officer. That's the guy you should write to and speak with.

I don't know what you mean by "threats," but it doesn't matter. This jerk still has your stuff; and that's theft. For sure he's going to say that you gave it to him for good; but you can deal with that later, when you meet with the right people.

It is particularly important to have any documentation of the conversations. Without that, it's a hard road to walk. This includes notes, or witnesses to any conversations.

Finally, go on to the Marines web site and find the section dealing with alleged criminal activity. File a report; and tell d*ckhe*d that you've done this--AFTER you've done it. Tell him you'll overlook the whole thing if he returns your property.

His commander and first sergeant could care less about a PS3 he lent a civilian. He's got a room mate or friend calling you. It is a crime to impersonate an officer and I would remind him of this. I would also promise to mail the PS3 as soon as he sends the funds and then do it. If not assure him that it will be waiting for him when he returns for it.

First off, are you in the military? If not, then the military has NO jurisdiction over you. Then next time someone calls saying they are his "Frist Sergeant, or CO", record it, and then you will have proof that whoever is doing this is impersonating an officer. Pretty serious stuff. If it really is his CO, explain your friend borrowed something from you, and you would like it back first.

You're friend's Commander has no legal authority over you!!!! However you do need to return his PS3 before it becomes a case in small claims court! The next time his Commander calls you, you need to inform him of the property or money he owes you, because his Commander can make him give it back to you.

Exchange it for a dictionary!

Like a Commanding Officer or Sergeant would be bothered with this.

Go to the Police and ask for protection!!

If he refuses to come back for it, it's not your obligation to mail it to him, unless he provides the money. It is wrong and very weird for his commanding officer to be threatening you over a playstation. You need to go to whoever is above the commanding officer and report both your friend and this commanding officer. I'm not sure who that would be, but I believe you are definetly right.

a threat from individuals does not really qualify as a military threat.

if you feel you are being wronged - call the police.

why would this be any different than any other situation?

You're receiving threats from his CO and/or SGT? Sure you are, and I'm the ISLAMIC POPE.
If I were his SGT/CO and he came to me whining about some kid having his PLAY STATION, he'd be digging holes and filling them up for weeks!
