I would be interrested in knowing why you think it's a big joke. I don't mean to be disrespectful here but I have to assume that you don't have a scientific background or a clear understanding of just what global warming is.
What I've found is, that overwhelmingly, the people who don't believe we're contributing to global warming don't really understand it. In my line of work I regularly come across people who believe it's a natural cycle, caused by the Sun, we're too insignificant to affect the climate etc but when I put a relatively simple question to them concerning global warming it's very rare they're able to answer it.
For example, why don't homonuclear diatomic molecular gases contribute to global warming? This is fundemental stuff, it''s the very basics of global warming, without a comprehension of even the basics it's difficult to make an informed judgement.
Interestingly, global warming has only really been a political issue on a regional basis since 1988 and at an international level since 1992. This is a far shorter time than it's been a scientific issue, it had been known scientifically for almost 100 years before the politicians became involved, and that was only at the behest of scientists who had already spent decades warming of the consequences.

Environmentalist's need a cause. They like to convince people there is a problem were one does not exist. That way they can claim success when it doesn't happen. For instance, 2007 was one of the hottest years on record. Here in California it was a very cold summer and winter. So when we go into the next 6 year warming cycle they can claim global warming. As for politicians, they are just corrupt and play to the "consciences".

Yes it's a joke. But the joke will be on us if we allow the myth to continue.
It is not the government that stands to gain from it. The alternate energy industry is just getting started. The cost, which is great, will be paid by us. If we allow the average person to pay the price, our standard of living will be reduced. Imagine being forced to give up your home and have to move in to high density housing because you can no longer afford to commute.
The list of things you will lose is long and the benifits small.

OK lets play a game.
Static you have a lot of 6 million plus and trending for only the last 30 of the run.
Can you say with any accuracy that you know want is going to happen in the next 100 plus with any certainty?
The same people who predicating the weather in 100 years said that the last 2 hurricanes season would be the end of us and we gotten nothing so far.
All the planets in the solar system are warming up.
You have NASA scientists who was bought off by Soros to say he was censored by Bush.
Causes so far:
pollution- OK
Too little pollution- Ah which is it?
Cows passing gas
volcanoes- Are they going to sign on to Kyoto?
Cars- Ah did anyone mention that cars are running cleaner that only 1% of the cars on the road are responsible for 90% of the pollution maybe we need to get rid of the old cars.
Less we forget the Kennedy’s who want wind farms but not where they live.
I am all in favor of conserving and making better use of our resources.
I am in favor of reasonable debate about what is going on.
I am not in favor of someone who jets around the country in private jets. Having people concerts using all sorts of gas and leaving a HUGE carbon footprint to tell me I have to live in tree.
Gore telling me I have to buy carbon credits and he gets rich and supports his huge home.
Meanwhile Bush has greener home than all the celebrities who say he is in bed with big oil WTF?
So when the reasonable debate starts call me I am waiting.

I instructed him i'm going to confirm him while it warms up a splash. the place's Al Gore's worldwide warming as quickly as we desire it? What scares me is that maximum of individuals are ignorant sufficient to have faith Al Gore's lies. I undergo in concepts the international cooling scare of the Seventies while environazis reported pollution replaced into inflicting worldwide cooling and we would desire to all freeze. Then the earth needless to say warmed a splash and those comparable human beings all started screaming approximately worldwide warming. while i replaced right into a baby we had a particular be conscious for worldwide warming. We known because it summer time. i'm hoping it comes quickly...

Of course it's not. How can you say that genuine scientific proof is a joke based around fear and governmental control?! Scientists aren't on the government's side.
If you think that it is all a joke then you'll be surprised when the whole world is flooded in 100 years time (y)

It's a pretty silly concept though when you stop to think that the government opposes acknowledging or doing anything about global warming.
So if there's a some sort of vested interest involved, which side of the question is it on?

Yes. There are still people out there who think it is.
They are not very educated unfortunately.
People also did not believe that there'd ever be a water shortage and now it's all over the news about turning our sewer water into drinking water...no joke I mind you!
Here from The Seattle Times w/ study:
"With each passing year the evidence has gotten stronger — and is getting stronger still."
1995 was the hottest year on record until it was eclipsed by 1997 — then 1998, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004. Melting ice has driven Alaska Natives from seal-hunting areas used for generations. Glaciers around the globe are shrinking so rapidly many could disappear before the middle of the century.

It truly is happening in the world, some people refuse to belive it and take it as a scam from the government. I personally belive that global warming is happening, but no one will do anything about it until it directly affects themselves.
