Many people, like you, will answer Norway or some other liberal European nation as the country they would like to move to. I think this makes sense, given how progressive they are with regards to human rights, and how generously they divvy out social services.
However, I think the United States, being a relatively young nation, isn’t a country that we should immediately consign as a failure. It would be one thing if the United States was a nation as old as England. Then I could not see any hope for change.
Yet given the relative youth of our nation, how much, due to globalization, we are changing and incorporating new norms, I think the United States may become a new and exciting place, and could potentially out do Europe with respect to social advances. The United States, being a relative new comer on the global stage, has always lagged behind the Europe in terms of social reforms, just the way kids have to learn things that their parents already have learned. Yet, just like how some kids eventually outdo their parents when events are played out, the United States has not completely come into its own yet, and has much more room to grow, in terms of population, diversity, and ideas. As a result there is the potential that the U.S. may come out to be the great leader for social progress, even surpassing Europe, like it has for technological innovation.
We must give kids time to develop, before judging whether they will amount to something. The same holds true for nations. Europe is a seasoned veteran that has become stuck in its ways. The U.S. is still growing, and I would like to see where we are going. I judge a nation by its potential to change, not the current state that it currently is in.

The best country in the world by every measure......The United States of America. Norway is one the most highly taxed per-capita nations on the earth, that's how they have so many government assistance programs.

Not ever going to leave the US, but I would love to move to Hawaii.
If I was European, I would live in Helsinki, rated one of the top safest cities in the world, and Finland has the least amount of immigration

Well I'm European by heritage, and would LOVE to visit Switzerland, Germany, France, Ireland and Scotland, (where my ancestors came to America from) but then again, I'd never want to live outside of America. We have it wonderful here, and I love my country!

The United States of America. If I wanted to live anywhere else, I would; and I encourage everyone else to do the same.

The USA. I love it how people dream of retiring in Norway or Mexico but will drain the US for what it is worth until then.
