I got my tounge peirced in college. The actual peircing doesn't hurt, but when your tounge swells...that definitely hurts for a couple days. I got rid of my tounge ring cause the dentist told me with the metal constantly rubbing on your teeth, the enamel comes off and your teeth are in risk of rotting...but you can do whatever you want. Just letting you know what the dentist told me...or you could always just get plastic balls (I think they make them) in stead of the metal balls.

Oh...and I just read some comments that people wrote to you. I'm honestly telling you that when they actually did the peircing on my tounge I didn't feel much at all. I was actually surprised they were done already. I thought it was going to hurt more that what it did...but my tounge didn't swell until I went to bed, and that's because I couldn't suck on ice or popsicles to keep the swelling down. It swells for a couple of days and that's very painful and it will probably be sore for about a week. If you go through with the piercing makes sure you get a big bottle of listerine and carry some with you. After you eat or drink anything, rinse your mouth out with listerine and that will keep the risk low for infection.

Getting it done doesnt hurt, but when it swells up afterwards it can hurt to eat. It doesnt last too long tho, the tongue heals pretty quickly. Ive had mine done for 6 years now and my teeth are fine btw.
You should go to a professional piercer tho as some people cant get their tongues pierced because of the placement of their veins in the tongue.

I've never done that , but sure it hurts the only thing that matters is how you handle the pain. Breath and relax, it's just a piercing, think about how it would be like loosing your leg... just kidding :P take it as a challenge good luck !

I had it done.

Yes, it hurts.

It also makes you unable to talk or eat much for at least 2 weeks after.

You can also get very bad gum disease, plaque, and chipped teeth, even badly broken teeth.

I wouldent reccomend it.

BESIDES, that is soooo 1990s

The only people I see with thier tongues still pierced are trailer trash.

i have had my tongue pierced 3 different times and currently I have two piercings in my tongue. Not one of my piercings hurt...or I would not have gotten it done 3 different times.

Putting a needle thru your tongue??? Common sense says that hurts. Oh...and make sure you save some money for the dentist cuz you'll wind up trashing your teeth.

It doesn't hurt too much, and the tongue heals faily quickly. Your tongue will swell though for a few days, suck on a lot of ice, it will definitly help!

From what I have heard, YES!
I wouldn't do it and it doesn't look very professional if you want to work with the public.
Seeing that thing always draws attention and most employers in high end management, don't like it.
Good luck if you do it!
Ouch.

I heard that theres not as much pain as people think. it really is a factor of mind over matter. I have 4 piercings (eyebrow, nose, belly, ears) my husband turned green and threw up. but he said it didnt hurt. just find a piercer thats really easy and gentle.
